N-1 (+2W) ... The Equation for the Modern Cyclist

Pure roadie here, I have no desire to ride rough/bumpy/pothole filled gravel paths.
But I see it as this: I have my go-all-day bike, my go fast, beat me up bike, my vintage bike, my even more vintage bike (project), a single speed for errands and a tandem. And assorted bikes I am fixing up to give away.
Not sure, but maybe I need to fill in my cycling past with a Schwinn Varsity, a Huffy 3 speed and a third hand Stingray knockoff. Not sure what was before that, maybe a single speed and a tricycle?

I'm a little late to the party, but I'd like to add that n + 1 also equals s - 1, where s equals the number of bikes you own which results in your spouse leaving you.
Those are some beautiful bikes you all have posted!

Finally got all the parts needed to be able to truly implement the (+2) part of my bike world. Here it is in "hybrid mode" with the gravel/trail wheel in the back and road wheel in the front

Every time I try the 2nd wheelset thing, it grows into a 2nd bike.

Ha! Good catch. I had just bought the bike and was trying out different things. Rest assured the setup is stable now. I love those big bottle cages btw. Being able to carry a 48oz Naglene is great in a Texas summer.

We've come full circle, as we usually do.The original French 650 A/B/C enabled narrow to wide tires to be run on one bike with just a wheel swap and brake pad adjustment.
Current conversations about a multi-purpose bike vs more specialized bikes are, I'm sure, not much different than 50+ years ago either. They just argued at the bar rather than on BF. Progress?
