1984 Specialized Expedtion for sale
1984 Specialized Expedition
Original Suntour Montech derailleur.
Original cranks and pedals.
Original levers.
1984 Specialized Expedition-Very original
1984 Specialized Expedtion for sale. The bike is very original and in very good condition. I would like to find out what it might reasonably sell for.
Thanks

There's a separate forum just for these such questions. Most people will likely overvalue it.

What you have there is a very desirable bike. Renowned bike guru Sheldon Brown once called it and the Miyata 1000LT the two best touring bikes this side of customized. I believe Miyata built the Expedition to spec for Specialized. That's a good thing.
That one looks especially clean, no obvious blemishes at all. And the Mountech RD didn't "asplode" like many did. Ask me how I know...
In today's environment, depending on your location I could see that going for big bucks. Anything new that compares is well north of $1,000 and the Miyata sibling easily gets close to that when in good condition.

I own one of these that I unfortunately let deteriorate over the years. It's an excellent rider.
Subject bike is in terrific condition and components, except seat and tires, look original for the 1984 year. There should be a stamping on the BB shell designating the size. Guessing this one is a 60?
Put on new bar tape, upgrade the saddle to something like a Brooks, mount more touring-oriented tires and it just might bring near the $1K mentioned above. As it sits, I think you're $750 +/- $50.

I'm with plonz , $700 plus fixed up. I am skeptical that it can fetch $1k. Maybe someone is willing to pay that much but there are excellent alternatives available at a lower price.
