I thought I preferred shimano, but the face force comes with a power meter, and the shimano hoods feel way too small. I also like the face that sram uses battery packs. You can buy extra so if a battery dies during the ride you can switch it out. Also if a battery goes bad you can switch it out.
Anyone have any idea how long the re charging last on di2 eventually it won’t be able to hold a charge anymore. That is kind of depressing in itself. Granted that will take years but it’s still a shame. Once it’s no good you have to replace the derailer I am assuming.

And yes, the integrated PM for SRAM is a plus for those who want it. Everyone knows that the Shimano Power Meter (which I think is a rebadged Pioneer design) is a piece of crap.

When I first started training, which more or less this year. Last year I did limited intervals. I hated it. My ego was based on my mileage and with the limited time that I am home, I wanted as many miles as I could get. It brought me joy to be on top of the leaderboard when I am only home three days, and not just this leaderboard all the leaderboards, (I know lame). Since I have started focusing on strictly training, I am really enjoying it. I am getting stronger and seeing that now brings me joy. Also not having the time to do the long rides I used to, finding that I am accomplishing a lot in shorter rides is pretty cool.

Bam. I'm in a different phase of life now after having been a competitive cyclist for nearly half my life, and on a very high level since 2018/2019. Now I'm finding my time greatly reduced with the baby on top of a full time job. My level won't be the same as it was last year, for a while, possibly forever, especially since we want another one. And that's fine. It's still fun to train and race and do as I can, and I'm learning that even with low mileage, I can still be pretty good if I apply myself. And race old dudes (Masters) instead of P/1/2 lol, that helps.

I believe it takes years, but once that happens you have to replace the battery I believe, not any other components.

Right, I guess I still can’t get over the cost of my madone or any bike with ultegra di2 doesn’t come with a power meter. I was so shocked my wife bought me it, i just assumed it had one. If I had known it did not I would have asked to add it at the time.
If one is buying a 9000+ bike I would have assumed a power meter in this day an age would have been included. I would have even taken the Pos shimano one at that rate. Water under the bridge. I have pedals so crisis adverted.
One of the reasons I like having a power meter so much, even on rides where no training is taking place, I know what my HR should be for a power out put. if my HR is higher, than something is wrong. without it I feel like I am riding blind.

I also prefer Shimano. The issue is that since SRAM bought the Hammerhead, they have dropped support for Di2 and are going to have better integration with eTap AXS going forward. I think with electronic shifting the integration of a head unit and the drivetrain makes sense.

My Trek Émonda SLR 7 with Force came with a Quark power meter. My wife’s SLR 7 with Ultegra did not but she did get the RSL bars. Both bikes were identical in price.

the Oakland A's are a Major League franchise by the thinnest of margins. They are poorly run and the league should buy them out and offer the franchise to an ownership group that can meet league standards.

I have similar, but stronger, feelings about my beloved Habs (Montreal Canadiens) these days. A sorry shadow of what was once a great team/franchise in the NHL.

However after awhile the conversation drifted into FTP tests and training . . . . I personally find this unpleasant as I love to ride and this type of analysis takes the fun out of riding for me. Plus, none of these guys are racers and honestly we are all more-or-less at the same level. I found myself zoning out and checked out of most of the rest of the discussion.
I occasionally pointed out that since we are not racers it makes more sense to focus on the joy of riding and not the training. My comments fell on deaf ears.
Sigh.

Maybe when they move to Vegas, they'll bump the Aviators over to Flagstaff, and bring back the name The 51s. Aviators are triple A but I reckon Flag is barely single-A town though.

I am not a baseball fan or particularly knowledgable at all about the game, but for that three (?) year run in the early '70s, I did follow the team as they won the World Series. I think it was the 'characters'/great players they had - Jackson, Catfish Hunter, Rollie Fingers, Vida Blue etc. - that appealed.
