Yo know, when I was in the US last summer, all the young folk were drinking PBR. Being out of touch as I am, I didn't realize they were hipsters. I knew them only as the children of folks I used to hang with, long ago. Only one of them had a bike though, and early Trek tourer, fully racked, which I coveted, except for the too small frame. Instead, I coveted its owner.

No foot retention, brakes, and a slack chain. This guy is totally a poser and has zero street cred. Probably not even a fixed gear - probably SS freewheel.

POSER.

Ya gotta be careful, them hipsters like to hide in teenagers, had a small herd in the house the other day. When I did a Q & A they were all in denial, finally they got P-Oed with my questioning, tucked their laces into their Chucks, grabbed their hoodies, rolled a cigarette and left.......meanwhile my bikes were huddled in the other room scared to death......ya gotta be careful seedsbelize, them hipsters are crafty folk.

It must be a combination of seasonal “cabin fever” and bike/tattoo/cat envy.

Arlo and Judy Colins were in town the other night. I asked my psuedo-hipster son if he wanted to go. He answered, "Arlo? hmmmm....any relation to Woody?" For these and other reasons I haven't abandoned all hope and continue to feed and cloth him.

Please, you have not written the perfect bicycle song because you haven't said anything about 'steel is real', 'BikesDirect', 'carbon fiber', 650B wheels, French bottom brackets, or the fork looks bent.

Lovely tweed sports coat, but I think the sleeves are too short. Does that make me an old relic in the eyes of you hipsters?

Actually, one of the things I like about hipsters is that they wear ordinary clothes in stead of lycra. Well, more or less ordinary. But you know what I mean!

Fall is upon us, winter approaches and the Hipsters appear to be dressed as a cover band for CCR......................

I'm thinkin' maybe the next fade should be a "Flannels and white Thermals ride" and Portland Maine the next epicenter of Velo-coolness?
