L-M-L was scheduled for March 24th, there was a blizzard foretasted so they postponed the race, the blizzard never happened. The back up date is this Saturday and that ^^^ is the forecast.
I'm a tough rider (I've proved it many times) but I don't want to drive the 30 miles to the start of this race... then ride in those conditions for ~8 hours
Oh well, it's Minnesota, the forecast will change 6-7 times between now and Saturday.
Oh, and for those that don't know about it, they are forecasting thunder snow ... yes, that's a thing and it's some of the most brutal conditions you'll ever see.

No, I wouldn't do it. However, if YOU decide to do it, I think you have a good chance of outdoing the grueling ordeal you put yourself through in Land Run 100 2017. My hat's off to you!

The ice would scare me. And the 26°F temps. And the howling wind. The two inches of snow isn't going to be easy getting through. That sounds insanely punishing.

Here's a link to the NOAA site with the graphic forecast and descriptions for the graphics (I've been using this so long I'm fluent in these colors )

If this forecast holds, I expect I'll skip driving to the race, I don't trust driving the highways to get to the race. But I'm looking to ride out my house, there's a rail-trail a couple miles from home ... and a couple tap rooms along it.

With an inch of fresh snow on the ground, and 5" more expected during the ride, I wouldn't try it on a gravel bike. Do you have one of the super-fat tire bikes? Surly Snow Cream or whatever that one's named?

Read the title again, the one with the question mark.
To OP it doesn't sound fun with that kind of weather but if you do go and finish it certainly would be a badge of honor. Personally I wouldn't go, there are going to plenty of nicer days to ride your bike.

Great idea for a thread! I'm interested in this too.
Can someone please tell me if I should cycle tonight based on this easy to understand and totally intuitive graphic which does not require jumping through hoops and/or a PhD in Rube Goldberg Analytics to interpret?
Thanks?

Totally sick of this weather.

I live 20 miles from TWC and find them to be very accurate here in Atlanta. They had better be able to get their own forecast right.
I've actually been to the studio during shows, stood just off camera while they broadcast live and one of the former on-screen meteorologists is a friend of my family. Her kids and mine were in the same class.
The HD studio is really cool.

Nope. Put me down in the 'wuss' category. Cold, wind and rain? BTDT. Back when the bike was my only form of transport, I did it. Not now, by choice. Now when I ride, I want to be wearing shorts. No leggings or tights. No rain gear.
The 'older and wiser' thing comes in to play...

By biggest concerns today were overheating and too much UV exposure. Being from Chicago, you have my sympathies. Seems like quite a drawn-out winter.
