1988 Cannondale mountain bike SM600
Hi all!
I am hoping the collective expertise of everyone can help give me an idea of what my old Cannondale is worth. I believe it is an SM600 by the Suntour gear set.
The serial number is 20051788152. It has some rust on the fork but I think most things are original. The front and rear derailleurs are Suntour Accushift and I think the cantilever brakes are original as well.
The frame itself is intact and has no real issues that I have noticed aside from scratches and the aforementioned rust on the fork.
I'll attach photos when I have a chance, which will be soon.
If you have any questions that will help get a better idea of what it might be worth just ask and I'll answer what I can!
Thanks!

serial number, will simply help give you an idea of the year it was built....usually going to the vintage cannondale site, with the serial number, will help you with the year of bike...as for what it's worth, it's usually whatever the market, or person will purchase it for....whether it's 75 dollars, or 2k...

One way to verify the year your bike was made is to check components for date codes. I own a 1993 Cannondale SM800 MTB and all of the components with codes show 1993. This model used Shimano cranks with a two letter date code so I had to go to a date code listing at Shimano to convert it to a year. The first place to look is at the inside of the crank arm. Here is where I found the date on the Shimano crank:
You can see a picture and component list for the 1988 SM600 mountain bike here https://www.mtb-kataloge.de/Bikekatal...ndale/1988.pdf. The color scheme is black with red lettering.
As others have told you, prices can be all over the place. I bought my SM800 for $20 at a second hand store. It was dusty and neglected but I could see it hadn't been used very much and stored indoors for years. I certainly wouldn't sell it for that price even a decade later.

A local flipper picked up one of these for $75 and is now trying to sell it for $225. It has been rotting on CL for months.
$75 sounds about right for a mid range vintage MTB but a lot depends on condition.
