Home Made Bike Storage Stand

I have enough space for my bikes, but invariably other people move my bikes, so I built this bike stand to hold four bikes up off the ground. With better planning I could make it look better and there are a few changes I would probably make if I do another, but I was able to slap this together in a day and it definitely does the job. What do you guys do to store or hold your bikes?

@rjhammett Very nice! I though of something like that, but wanted to limit the use of floor space. I may do something like that in the future.

Aluminum pipe with a notch cut for the top tube. The wood at the end away from the wall extends back to the notch so the bike rests on wood, not aluminum. On the wall-end of the pipe is a keyhole. They are set on studs 16" apart.

3 pieces of MDF on 2x4 base. Cheap, sturdy, flat - pick all 3.

I have seen those before. If I have a finished basement, something like that would work, but alas I have limestone and most walls have a window or something else that would have prevented this method. But this is certainly a better way to display than my rack.

I went with a rack that stands the bikes up against the garage wall. I could have mounted it higher to let the bikes hang and alternate hanging by rear and front wheels, to squeeze more in, but the space wasn't that dear and I'm trying to limit the size of the fleet to single digits.

You are correct. I need to swap the Pinarello for the LeMond or Serotta.

9 bikes in a 10 foot space. Hanging from rubber coated steel hooks screwed into a 2X6 piece of lumber. I discovered if I alternated the handlebars up & down there was enough space for all of them.
