Pedals
What pedals are everyone running? I got new shoes and decided to replace the pedals too as they are almost 10 years old and have some good rust on them. Thinking about the new Shimano M820 Saint trail pedals as I like the extra support the platform has.

Shimano a530.
I use my gravel bike for neighborhood rides with kids so the platform side is nice.

I'm running M9000 XTR SPDs. Amazon had a sale on them last year for 50% off and Prime. Total steal for top tier pedals.

Expedo M-Force 8 Ti.
212 grams/pair
Carbon soles on the shoe give me enough support.

I can't post a picture but the new 2019 Shimano XTR Enduro PD-M9120 Enduro Clipless Pedals are nice. Got more platform than my 8020 XT pedals.

I ride Speedplay Frogs. It is what I like best for MTB, and I just carried it over to road use (which is gravel is to me). Very different function and feel, and not for everybody, but I love them.

Non omnino gravis
No complaints about my Look X-Tracks. While they're essentially Shimano SPD clones, they have so far managed to avoid turning into squeak machines, which is what every single pair of Shimano pedals I've owned has done.
I don't care about weight, I don't need extra platform area, I just need a pedal with solid engagement and the ability to operate when caked in sand and mud. And single-sided? Not if you ever plan on ridin' where I'm ridin'.

How much did you pay for these? I just dropped 60$ on the M8000's... Was going to grab the m540's but they were on back order. I figured 20 bucks more for the 8ks... eh.

I've got a set of the XT Trail pedals, but next time will get the standard ("Race") pedals. I don't think the platform really adds anything other than weight.

Shimano XT cross country pedals. Clipping in and out is easy and they have been bombproof.

Ended up going with the Saints. I switched to a softer shoe (Pearl Izumi X-Alp Canyon) so I wanted more platform support than the race style ones. Thought about trying another brand but my old M520's lasted me almost 10 years so why change from the tried and true Shimano reliability.
Good thread though for seeing what everyone's tastes are when it comes to gravel.

On my Cannondale Synapse Aluminum I use Shimano 105 SPD-SL pedals. That's my road bike, and I use it for daily fitness rides on-season, and endurance rides on weekends. For those purposes, the road bike pedals are optimal.
On my Cannondale Quick CX that is coming soon I'll use Shimano Deore XT PD-T-8000 SPD pedals; I haven't tried them before, but they look like great SPD pedals on one side, and really good (not undersized, and yet not bulky) platforms on the other. My plan for that bike is to use as a backup to the road bike, and to use on light trails, as an 'errand' bike (with rack and light panniers), and as a neighborhood or MUP bike when I head out with my kids. For those varied uses, a combination of SPD and platform is the most useful arrangement for me.

I've got the Crank Brothers Stamp 7 flat pedals on the gravel bike at the moment:
They work really well with any shoes and provide a grip that feels like I'm clipped in - but I don't ride my bikes in bad weather so they may not be perfect in rain/mud/snow.
However, I've got a pair of Shimano XTR M9000 Race SPD Clipless pedals along with a pair of Fizik X5 Terra Suede shoes on which I'll mount Shimano SH56 cleats (these are the 'beginner' MTB cleats).
So the flats will be swapped out for SPD clipless soon.

I have VP 001s on both my gravel bike and my singlespeed mountain bike. Those with 5.10s and I'm good for any riding I do.
