Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Redwood forest, everyone should get a chance to experience a ride through them. Being surrounded by the columns of trees and immersed in their aroma...

I know this road well. One of my all time favorite rides. A group of old high school friends and I get together every year and do this ride. All we do is eat, drink and pedal all weekend.

You are so lucky! Here in Michigan we have only two very remotely similar rides. One is the so called tunnel of trees north of Traverse City and the other is U.S. 41 up the Keweenaw Peninsula to Copper Harbor. Great in the fall but the trees not nearly as majestic.

This was in North Brooklyn, way north, beyond where the hipsters live. It is the area around Balestrand, Norway on the fjords. The roads were as empty as they are in the picture. I only saw maybe 5 cars in 3 hours of riding once outside of the main town.
