Cellini with Campy Golden-Black group

So this popped on craigslist today and I was at the seller's doorstep in 2-hours.

The frame is Cellini, probably a early 80s frame as the Campy bits are stamped with "82".

What's this bike worth? Is it better to keep it complete or part out the components if I was looking to sell?

Some links I could dig up on Campy Golden-black stuff:

https://cinellionly.blogspot.com/2010...k-cinelli.html

(yes the weird coincidence of "Cinelli" and Cellini is not lost on me)

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...-love-Gooooold

Scroll down til you see the Cellini ad.

Pictures from the seller's album:

I have a inkling I should just leave this one alone (not try to restore it) to avoid the risk ruining it.

Thinking of doing a 7-day auction.

It looks like a really nice bike, but it's kind of hard to tell anything about it from those pics. Don't know if your links really mean anything, and it would be nice to know date codes from parts. I definitely wouldn't do anything to it.

Yeah, this is a hard one to evaluate because it is so rare. Were it me, I would put the whole thing on eBay with a $0.99 starting bid and see how things go. I have no idea what you paid for it but I would think a reserve of $2K would be about right, just to make sure things go your way. At least, that is the minimum I personally would sell it for (I am cheap but brutal, if that makes any sense).

In your thread in the C&V main forum, someone mentioned that there is a bike shop with one of these for sale. I would PM that person and find out what the bike shop is asking.

I would NOT part it out. I would invest in a set of hoods before selling it. also like Jet I have no idea what you paid but I would think you may want to list it here in the for sale section for a few dollars over the CL price. some C&Ver might love that bike enough to actually pay for it LOL

I do agree asigning a true value to the bike will be difficult. do you perchance know the tubing type? the wheels certainly do not seem to be original are the hubs atleast Campi?

other than a good cleaning and hoods maybe tires what is there to restore? the paint appears as it was a flat or matte finish leaving the factory so just clean her up real good.

The Matrix rims look out of place on that bike. What are the hubs?

+1 what is the frame tubing?

Good eye on the Matrix rims! The hubs are Campagnolo.

The tubing is Columbus KL.

That is a very cool bike. Really like the frame. A new Rolls, new hoods, and new leather wrap would do wonders. Is that the Cinelli VIP bar/stem/leather combo?

What keeps me from doing any of the above is the originality of all those bits. The rolls is, I think, specific to this bike. As is the leather wrap.

But maybe someone else can chime in. As a thing to sell, I think I'd be inclined to keep it original.

The bar is actually 3TTT with a little logo of a cyclist on the front. The handlebars are Cinelli.
