Congratulations!
There is no question that a low-carb diet can really take the weight off most people. It just seems, though, that all you have to do is breathe and you inhale carbs! I could possibly be 5 pounds lighter, but anything below where I am now would seem to require a different approach than I have used: seems it is common for cyclists to 'plateau'. I'm waiting to see what increasing the efficiency of my aerobic system will do to my weight and/or how much I can eat. Improving your aerobic efficiency, with lots of lower zone base miles, is supposed to make you a fat burning machine.

I think I secretly thought that as much as I ride (6500-8000 miles a year), I could eat anything I wanted. Not so. I have spent the last 8 weeks counting calories and have lost 14 lbs, which get me very near my 185 goal. I heartily recommend LIVEstrong.com's "My Plate" feature. It's fun (Charts!) and easy to use. I THINK I am climbing better, too.

The Daily Plate is great. I've been a gold member for a year.

Congrats on this. I found that once you get older your body finds ways to fight a particular diet regeme, and you sometimes find hidden ways to unconsciously cheat a diet. You have to change things up to keep the momentum going.

I'm really glad that worked for you. I was kicking that Atkins diet around and decided to just get off sweets for a while, as well as meat instead. It worked well for me. Anyhow congratulations on the new body.

Unfortunately grass fed beef isn't widely available. It is nearly as healthy as chicken. If antibiotics are used in raising chickens, the grass fed beef may be healthier.
