Bikes for TALL Riders - post your pics!
Hey Fellow Tall Cyclists,
I just wanted to give a shout-out to Colnago and other brands that are making nice big bikes. It is hard to be 6'5 and find a high-end ride, especially if you're looking at stock bikes. Often your only alternative to make a bike fit you is to get an extra-long stem and seatpost, and that simply is a mediocre method. I've found that most bike companies are too cheap (fiscally conservative?) to make a mold for an extreme size, or are just scared of making a carbon bike for a big rider.
I've attached a shot here of a recent build at Wrench Science of a 65cm Colnago Master X-light. It is a steel frame with handbuilt wheels and only weighs 17.7 lbs! Admittedly not the sleekest-looking frame, but it FITS THE RIDER! If you have any questions about fitting yourself on a Colnago or other tall frame, give me a shout!
Are you a tall rider too? Post your shots here! I want to see some massive headtubes!
Tell me who else makes good tall bikes! And yes, we all know Zinn!

Y'all can spare us the "tall bikes," as cool as they are. I'm talking about conventional bikes made for unconventionally tall riders. Thx.

Sorry - I must have gone on a bit too much.
Here's the sum total of the road bikes I've owned...
Circa Mid 80's Chromoly Steel Raleigh Team Pro. Bloody good bike that got me into it. Unfortunately I snapped the chain stay - so I've retired this one. Pretty cool looking bike I thought. Was a bit small for me though.
This is a 1986 Chromoly Steel Vincolo (New Zealand Brand) Quite a bit bigger than the Raleigh - and much more comfortable. Snapped the Seat Tube on this one! (This photo was after I had it repaired and repainted.) Sold it once I bought the Zinn to a tall mate who's just getting into riding - and it'll be a great bike for him. (Note the Kelly Take-off shifters - which are great inventions)
Saved my pennies for a while for this one. I can't speak highly enough about it. It's a 2009 Zinn - Custom built (Project Big) Dolomite Ti with 210mm cranks (full titanium frame). It's facilitated a massive increase in my performance. It's still a joy everytime I get on the thing.
