It appears to be an early 1980s, upper entry level model based on the frame characteristics and drivetrain.

What is the serial number? Mine (see signature) wraps around the lug at the top of the seat tube. The lugs, front tire clearance, and lack of chrome resemble mine, which came with Ofmega cranks, Campag. NR derailleurs, Modolo sidepull brakes, Campag. road quill pedals, Bianchi-branded TTT stem, and low flange Ofmega hubs. My 55cm C-T Bianchi weighs in right around 10kg.

As others have suggested it appears to be a '83 980 model named for the Campagnolo 98 front and rear derailleurs, the only Campi other than the shifters. The yellow is of course someone's personal touch. The frame is three tubes Columbus and Falck stays and fork. The OEM kit would have been Weinmann 500 brakes, TTT seatpost, Ofmega cranks and pedals. Everything else seems to have been swapped out.
Cleaned up and overhauled it would make a decent rider, personally I am not sure I'd pay $300 for it

thanks for the information. yes this was a local bike on .craigslist
I almost always buy, then determine after what it is I bought. I have a hard time saying no when I look at something interesting. I didn't buy the bike, although I feel like it's a pretty decent deal. brooks professional, record hubs. it's just a little or a lot to new for my taste. I know bianchi made low to high end models. after reading comments this one sounds on the lower end. that said Celeste bianchis always interest me....thanks

Here's mine. With the exception of the wheelset/tires, saddle, tape and seat post it's original. Well, that and numerous paint touch-ups. Even the hoods are original to the bike.
