Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Rebecca's Private Idaho

I'm starting to outfit for the Queen's Stage Race next Labor Day. Any comment on conditions and popular tires for the terrain?
Watching video I don't see much sidewall killing rock. I'm thinking Challenge Grav Grinder Race or VIttoria Terreno Zero. 40mm range

Check the tread on the Dry's, might be a little better suited than the zero's

Fwiw, Someone came up with these and recommends 33-38mm for RPI.....Maybe some of the other rides will help narrow your tire choice down.

Category 3 gravel: Poorly maintained roads with bigger rocks, ruts and/or sand
  • Ideal bike: Gravel bike
  • Tire size: 33-38mm
  • Event examples: Rebecca’s Private Idaho, Landrun 100, Crusher In The Tushar, Rock Cobbler, Gravel MOB, SPNDX Stampede, Chino Grinder

Agreed. With that much decending I'd want a tire with a little bite on the sidewall. I vote Drys.
