Gravel Bike Wheelsets or Parts

I would like to get a second wheelset to use as my daily exercise ride wheels. I have a Giant Revolt 2.
I have been looking all over the place...it can be quite confusing!
I am looking for an inexpensive set of wheels.
Sizing:
700c 12x100 thru axle front and 700c 12x142 thru axle 9 speed rear.
Current rims have a 25mm ID....this can vary.
Can anyone suggest anything? These will be primarily used to ride daily on pavement.
Or, I would like to build my own...just for the learning process. But again, so many parts and sizes to choose from. And many are very expensive. These will be beaters so I don't want to spend
half of what the bike itself cost.
Regards,
Mike

You have listed the important information already: 700c, 100/142x12 thru axle, inner width can vary. If you don't mind buying a used set, people sell the stock wheels off their bikes all the time for a couple hundred, sometimes barely even used because they wanted the fancy wheels right away. This could be just about any road or gravel wheelset that matches those specs.

Building your own will probably cost more unless you are really open minded and patient, looking for super deals on just about anything that's compatible and using inexpensive (i.e. straight gauge) spokes.

FWIW I have a Revolt and had a PR2 wheelset collecting dust, so now I put those on with 32mm road tires to make it my "rain" bike and then switch the wheels back when I want to ride offroad. My only problem is, I can't get the rotors to be in the same place, so I have to adjust the calipers every time I swap wheels!

$315 is hard to beat.
Front axle is 100x15mm so you'd need a sleeve that bring it down to 100x12mm.

Shims.

Or if they are reasonably close, just use a pad spreader when you swap wheels.

I tried various combinations of shims with no luck. I have to spread the pads every time no matter what.

I do not think your bike has a nine-speed cassette.

I also think your best bet is to go to a shop that sells gravel bikes and gear...Perhaps the shop that sold the bike.

It does. Looked it up because I too was skeptical.

But that should work on a 10/11 speed cassette body, right?

I am curious as to why you would say you do not think my bike has a nine speed cassette.
I tried to attach a picture of the bike's cassette so you could see....but I am a newbie on this forum....so it will not allow me to upload a picture or insert a link to another page.
But if you go to 99spokes under bikes and Giant 2021 Revolt 2....you will see it states a 2 x 9 drivetrain.

As for going to the local bike shop where I purchased the bike. Well, they are the main reason I got into learning to do my own maintenance. When I purchased the bike, they were "supposed" to get it ready. They failed to put sealant in the tires, the indexing for the rear derailleur was not even close, and the steering was loose, and they tried to lie about needing a new chain/cassette on a trade in bike where I had just replaced those items. So I do not trust them in the least! I now do all my own maintenance and have learned a great deal and really enjoy doing it....so it all worked out for the best.
So I am wanting to do this to learn. Wheels and brake systems are two areas I have not done a lot with...so they are next in line to learn about.
Regards,
Mike

That is was I am finding out...it will go on a 10/11 speed hub.
The cassette fitting on the hub and the axle size was my main issues. The 9 speed cassette hubs have different size for the thru axle (15mm).
I see that I can get a sleeve.
But I also found out that I can put the 9 speed cassette on a 10/11 hub (may need a spacer depending on model).
So I do think I will go the "build my own" route. I think it will be a good learning experience. And I can take my time and find the parts at best prices.

Thanks,
Mike

Sora! Yep, nine-speed.

I do believe you are correct: a 9 speed cassette should fit on a 10-11 speed freehub, albeit with an easily-sourced spacer.

There are youtube videos to cover just about every bicycle mechanic task. I learned a lot from youtube videos and this forum.

Because our elitest snob brains block out bikes not made with high end components.

But the bottom line is you want wheels. I am very happy with some Mavic wheels I got from Universal Cycles (they no longer sell Mavic). I would call them and ask for advice as to what wheel they think would be appropriate for your needs. I was going to recommend Bicycle Wheel Warehouse, except the 2nd pair of wheels I received from them had a rear that was horribly out of true. I fixed it rather than bothering to send it back, but I won't buy from them again.
