Please help me ID this WATERFORD
Hello everyone,
I'm new here though I've ben lurking in the forums from time to time as an unregistered user.
I picked up this complete Waterford up a couple months ago for $600, seemed like a good deal and the closest I'll ever get to owning a waterford.
So, I'm tryin to ID the model. i think the year is 02?
The Waterford website gives info on decoding the numbers but no info on how to ID model...as far as i can see, anyway.

ill post some pics of the bike...
MY OTHER PROBLEM:
the stem is 1" threadless and the stack height is too low. I was stretching too low to reach the bars and too far out with the stem that was on there when i got it....
I've been trying to figure out how to solve that and I'm open to suggestions. All the 1" threadless stems ive found on ebay are from 90s mtb and are super long. best solution ive been able to cook up is to use a Soma Quill-inator so I'm able to use a tall Technomic stem....is there a 1" threadless alternative? ie. tall and short like the technomic? i'd like to put drops on it to keep it looking classy but i don't want to have to lean like racers lean. also not interested in using a goofy looking alt-riser-drip bar.

Can't help on the ID, but in terms of stem height and reach, it looks like 1" 17 degree stems do exist, e.g., https://www.landrys.com/product/dime...m-263094-1.htm. Or you could use a 1 1/8" stem with a shim. However, if that still doesn't get you enough height, you're looking at replacing the fork.

Ritchey makes (or made) a very nice 1” threadless stem, but using a shim on a 1 1/8 stem of the appropriate length and rise is very acceptable.

Its a Waterford Sport/Tourer bicycle or "credit card tourer" . (Braze ons for rack mounts suggest this was not intended for racing, although if youre of a mind to, you can certainly do anything you want -- and caliper brakes instead of cantilevers also suggest its not meant for full bore touring )
Waterford does a lot of custom and semi custom stuff . Have you tried to contact Waterford directly ?

Richard has done a few interviews since but no real info if it will live on in any form.
That being said, he may respond as he always has if you ask nicely.

Richard Schwinn said he was going to keep the archive and provenance functions going, but I haven't heard any details yet. The Waterford website is still up but the last updates I could find are from this summer.

thanks! I'm stoked! I'm working on building it out as the pieces arrive...i decided to go with the Soma Quill-inator (look it up) to be able to use a quill riser stem...which quill riser stem? a short reach nitto Technomic stem...i also got some Nitto b136 rano bars and a pair of the drilled Grand Comp brake levers...scored a nice clean pair of old Suntour barends off of ebay..thats the beginning. Hoping replace the front wheel with a Son Dynamo. Sort of a winter project for warm weather rando rides. its cold here in philadelphia so i'll be sticking to MTB and big tire cruiser for the interim.

They've never been the prettiest solution, personally I'd just opt for a 17* stem, besides profile and ritchey, you can also check out zipp. I tried one on my 54cm track frame in the hopes I could make it fit, now the 13yo rides.
