Where would you rank the TdF in terms of sporting events you would want to see before you die? See the article from ESPN:

Probably # 3 for me.
1 – World Cup (done)
2 - Leafs Stanley Cup final game (one can dream)
3 - Alpe d'Huez TdF stage

Nice touch with the FA Cup and Premier League games. I'd toss in the UEFA Champions League final, too.

Jim Caple has always been a fan of cycling, and he wrote a lengthy piece on the Little 500 a month or 2 ago. I think however that he is completely off the mark. I would take a Giro mountain stage over a TdF mountain stage any day of the week.

I'm going to a (semi) mountain stage this year.. and maybe (hopefully) I can get away for the TT the next day or something. I could not be any more excited. Giro is cool.. and I think the climbs are better overall.. but the tour has all of the big guns going 100% and the other guys trying to make something happen.. I think its more special.

I missed the UF Gators Nat'l Championship game this past season but perhaps OSU can keep giving me opportunities.
Like some others I think I'd rather be in Italy but would love to see any stage of the 3 GTs or one of the "monuments." Kids are getting older, the wife and I always have summers free so the opportunity should present itself. Any of those are near the top of my Top 10, for the race and to see some of Europe.

Whenever Galatasary make it into the Champions League and play a big time team at home. Having watched one of those games a long time ago, I can say that I had never seen, and haven't seen it again, such passion from a group of people for one cause.
