A Waste of Green Paint - Bike Path Fails
I was following a friend's skate route using Endomondo fitness app when I came across this in Miami across from South Beach. Made me laugh. Reminds me of my town. Or is it EVERY town?

Not every town has famous chain saw murders and gun play on the street. The location posted was just down the street from the "war zone" action of Scarface at 728 Ocean Drive.

Survival on these designated paths is much higher if the riders are wearing Miami Vice garb for visibility.

I actually like the green paint across exit lanes where a bike lane has to cross a traffic lane.
But, perhaps there is too much of a good thing.
I assume the idea here is to remind people of the bike path when parking, exiting the parking, and getting in and out of their cars.
No idea how to fix double parking. It isn't done a lot around here. Perhaps a 120 second, no unattended vehicle limit?

I'm starting to see quite a few of the green paint around my area. I guess this will be the norm all over.

Some *PEOPLE* park their cars on blue paint (ADA, you know, what everybody has been praising GHWB for).
Some *PEOPLE* park their cars on red paint (transit lanes).
And gosh and folley, some *PEOPLE* also park their cars on green paint too.
Let alone some *PEOPLE* who park their cars in the red zone, the red zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only, and there is no stopping in the white zone. (Or is that just Betty and her WZS?)
News flash - some people suck.
Duh.

I really like the green lanes. They provide a good indication that bikes belong there. In my neighborhood, it works pretty well.
If they let cars park blocking the green lanes, that does kind of ruin it.

A cycling friend of mine claims he can make a phone call and get vehicles ticketed for parking in bike lanes in New Orleans. He is one of THOSE guys, so I tend to believe him. He said they respond really quickly as well. I've never felt like stopping to mess with all that, so I can't confirm or deny.

They had to remove that green paint from a bunch of bike lanes here in downtown LA, because all of the film production companies complained that they had to remove it in post-production, driving up their costs.

(Does Film L.A. think they are the only geeks in the universe? Driving up costs a whole millicent on the dollar? Oh please.)
Anti-bike people make stuff up.

The fact that they didn't get the memo is one reason Florida is #1 in cycling fatalities.

Non omnino gravis
Whatever group that represents the studios and the LADOT actually came to an agreement as to what color green to use, and what streets would receive coatings and when. As if there was any question that in Hollywood, $$$ > public safety.

Like parkour for cyclists.
Those aren't erroneously parked cars, they're obstacles to pass over. You're supposed to bunnyhop onto the boot, ride over the roof and then jump off the hood.
Extra points if you manage a Tailwhip off the hood.
Admittedly, the alarms going off isn't a great soundtrack, but we're working on that.
The seemingly angry guy who comes running isn't really angry, but is merely looking to deliver some commentary on how to avoid the chainring from digging into the edge of the boot lid.

Bringing it back to the topic, Film L.A. will be complaining about all the extra NYPD cars that they'll have to park in the bikelanes for the "NYC" stand-in locations.
Maybe they'll do CGI NYPD cruisers?

Nono, it's a new idea, it's a bikcycle TRIAL path.

Not a waste of green paint. The city gets credit for 'miles of bike lane' in the 'bike friendly cities' ratings.
In an effort to shed its 'worst city for cycling in America' ranking, Dallas threw down some paint and put up some signs:
