Vintage Celeste Bianchi 980 - what model is it?
Just bought a celeste Bianchi roadbike from its original owner (a very charming 72 year old lady!), who didn't recall the make or model. She believed all the components to be original (Campys), but I'm not positive her memory was completely reliable. Downtube suicides, 980 decal.
Can anyone help to ID it?

Could use some better pics esp. of the drive side and some of the details of the frame. Still that is a 980 campy rear derailleur which was a lower lever Campy part. The shifters could well be NR or something similar. Looks like a nice bike.

Thank you so much! I'm very noob (my first bike) - I tried to take some more photos - hope these help. The seller was so lovely - paid $300, and she even had a brand new pannier bag as a present for me to make sure the bike had a nice new home.

Nice bike; I really like celeste bianchis. A pic of the crank and front derailleur would be handly; also any pics of the frame tubing decals would help. Looks like the frame might be a tretubi (3 tubes columbus SL) which is good stuff.

you'll have fun getting this bike back into great shape. there are lots of threads for how to go about restoring an old bike. this will be a fun bike to ride.

More 980 Help Please!!!
Well, I did "Hijack" this photo of the actual bike but it's not much to go on . . .
First off, I agree 1000%, a picture IS worth a thousand words, but I haven't the room to unpack this, (I know, crazy right!) my first Bianchi, to take any photos for your viewing pleasure. Thus I have spent the last hour or so scouring these posts looking for one like mine, and I can give you fairly extensive details as to everything else. I'm hoping for confirmation on tubing, it's place in the hierarchy, and potentially at least a ballpark range, in your honorable opinions, of what the value might be . . . so I will know how bad a beating I took, LOL!!!
It does have the "980" decal and shares virtually every aspect of the frame in this post/thread, it has Gipiemme dropouts, and has markings of "3.A" on the right side of the seat post and "221" on the left, 3TTT bars and stem, Ofmega headset, Campy 27.2 seat post, Modolo Professional brake levers and calipers, of course the Campy 980 R.D. and a Campy Nouvo Record F.D. & shifters, crankset and pedals are Ofmega and the rims are "SATURNE" "HT-C21", hubs have no identification, haven't seen the skewers yet.
It is in overall "Very Good" condition and should be "Excellent" when finished. It is of course a beautiful Celeste Green and I can't wait to get started on it!!! Alas it will probably have to wait until late spring/summer, but it's not going anywhere . . .

Non original pics risk tisk! Well the 980 takes it name from the Campagnolo RD 980 model and was the bottom of the line for the Italian bikes. I believe it’s only appearance was in ‘84 and in 85 that spot was taken by the Veloce carrying a similar mix but Triompe derailleurs. The frame should be some sort of Columbus TreTubi wif maybe Falcon stays, I don’t have my catalogs with me,
Value is in the eye of the beholder a Celeste Bianchi with CampI is worth at least 1K to most flippers. Depending on condition if I was buying one of these maybe $250 to $300 but at $300 I would expect it to be spotless and ready to ride for a year or two.

javaride, the serial number indicates it is a 1983 model. Basically, it is a Nuovo Racing frameset with a lower grade component mix. The frame is tretubi Columbus SL with the main tubes being Columbus SL, while the stays and forks are lower grade Falck tubing. Given the rims, the wheels have been changed or at least rebuilt. It was the bottom rung, Italian manufactured model. I'll defer on value, until you can post pictures of the actual bicycle.
