Paramount OS Waterford 1990 57cm
I am looking for a fair appraisal price. Paramount pricing can vary wildly! I am looking for a price range that is fair to both seller and buyer.
Single owner. I built the bike and rode it for a year and then I moved and my life changed. 28 years later, I accept that I will not be riding it more.
My location should not matter because I am just looking for an appraisal now.
Paramount OS Waterford 1990 (serial #570DMWC90068 )
Mostly Mavic components ( brakes, front derailleur, crank set, head set, stem, alloy rims) Shimano Ultegra 600 rear derailleur, Modolo handlebars, Dura-Ace wheel hubs.
There is more brake wear on the rear rim. Both wheels are anodized.

I honestly don't know what to price this at but wow! Such a visually beautiful bike. I really love that Mavic crank too. Looking forward to seeing what the experts think this is worth.

I'd say $600-800ish local. Real nice frame and those Mavic bits are great.

And is that the original violet paint? Because nothing says Schwinn like that purpletone (and the metallic Stingray green).

Hi, Not to be a downer but unless I am missing something 800 to 1000 seems very high...is the Mavic stuff really worth that much...in my market 600 is on the way outside.
I hope I am wrong for the OP's sake.

Yes, that gorgeous deep purple is the original paint from the factory!

Mavic costs more than some ( all?) of the Campy lines, so they are not low end at all.
If the bike had all Campy Record components and was in your favorite color, how much do you think it would be worth?

In 1990, I spent over $2700 (which is equal to over $5100 in 2017 dollars).
It is the epitome of 'buying a used car from a little old lady from Pasadena.' I took extremely good care of it. I rode it for 1 year and then stored it inside for 28 years. Other than the rear derailleur, it is certainly good enough to be ridden professionally. The headset and bottom bracket are sealed, so I would think they would age more gracefully than top of the line campy.
If this is worth $600 then I would think Paramounts with cheaper and more worn out components would be worth more like $300 or less.
On the other hand, if this is the going price, then this is the going price and that is what I was asking about, so thanks for sharing your time and experience.

Yep, I would estimate that one at $600, no more. Purple is an acquired taste, not every one wants it and if they do they might want different components.
Sadly, today's vintage market cares little about how much things cost when new, and your period of Paramount isn't considered a highly desirable classic. Yet.
You'll do somewhat better if you sell the Mavic bits off separately, as people who want that stuff likely won't also want to buy your bike (instead they'll put it on a Lemond, etc.).

I'd be sorely tempted if that bike showed up locally so I hope you don't live in Iowa, .
Location does matter for a valuation since the bike will command a better price in a larger city.
Agree with the others that this is not the era of the very desirable Schwinn paramounts which hurts the valuation a bit. The mavic stuff is neat but the group is incomplete and does not have the same cachet for many people that campy does. I hate to say it but this bike is worth more as a part out than as a complete bike which is a real shame.

Two Paramount Series 3 in excellent condition have been on the Tucson CL for months at $375 each. Two different sizes (a "his/hers" thing) in a nice metallic blue.
I don't know where you are or what your market is like, but maybe this can add some perspective on things.

Yeah, I think the problem is, that just about anyone who would be in the market for a Paramount, already has one (or 37).
That Mavic gruppo is probably more valuable than the frame, especially since i believe it's the same one Lemond rode to victory on in the 1989 TDF (someone will correct me if it's not). I think it would look stunning on a late 80's Bottecchia frame.

Purple is one of the 10 colors. I guess other people don't like purple as much as me.

If your'e selling then always ask for as much as possible. You can always come down on a price but, you certainly can't go up. I'd start at $950 and see what happens.

The most surefire but labor-intensive way to make money off this bike is to part out the Mavic components on eBay. Put the crank up for $125, the brakeset up for $100, the FD up for $50, etc... And then $150-300 for the bare frame/fork.
You could put the whole bike on eBay or CL for $800-1000, see if anyone bites, and then if you are sitting on it too long part it out or lower the price.

I had to come down to $225 to sell my wife's 1992 PDG Series 3 last summer. Way crappier bike and maybe an apples to oranges comparison, but I was surprised how little it was worth.
