While insulting their intellect was a bit harsh, I can appreciate the OPs aversion to these as “performance” bars, due to the non-at-your-fingertips-at-all-times controls. But for touring and commuting, assuming the realistic expectation that they’re not going to do your calculus homework, you’ll love them!

I got a ITM Freetime T bar with my Koga WTR, It's an Italian Handlebar maker, in the USA people only want their Road, drop bars .
They are now on my Bike Friday Pocket Llama , their tube is 22.2mm so Rohloff grip shifter and MTB brake levers.
width 54, is same as the GR3 ergon bar ends on my Brompton, my other bars on the Koga WTR, is 58mm wide..

Same here when I am riding. It has it's own little spot at my local. Finished a cross-PA tour last September and went straight to the bar with my fully-loaded rig to get some grub and watch football.
Still too cold and wet here. Looks like I will be back in the saddle on Saturday.

Just for fun. I put a set of trekking bars on my Specialized Sirrus, I find them more comfortable than the flats that came from the factory. When riding, if I don't expect to be using the shifters or brakes much, I'm on the outside grip section probably 75% of the time.

Just a random vent for Sunday morning.
I tried some years ago. There is really no way to set up the brake levers and shifters other than on the "close" section.
The close section is too close to be useful, and is way behind the end of your stem. Steering feels twitchy, while you also get to be scrunched up.
The far section is too far away.
The sides are too wide for that stance of grip.
Just the worst idea ever. I know that Sheldon (PBUH) liked them, but there's a reason they remain a tiny niche of a tiny subset.

They're very old-fashioned. The new Trekkingfahrräder don't even run them anymore. It's like you guys just got them stateside
