I spotted this mostly original Schwinn Continental. I had one back in the early 60s with downtube Huret shifters. Check out the giant stem shifters, mounted ahead of the bar. Never seen those before. It was parked on the tarmac at the Camarillo Air Show in California.

Saw this old gentleman riding the Columbia high wheeler one Sunday morning. I asked him how it was to ride in traffic, he said "Everybody always stops for me." This was not a parade shot, he was riding in regular traffic along White Oak Ave., Northridge, CA. He said he was on his way to church.

No judgment here. The guy rides his bike more often than I do mine, and every time I see him I'm driving.

Saw this guy a little while ago. No bike stuff, but I hear he's pretty clever so he might be packing. We'll see. Happy holiday.

In shop window at the mall. Yes I was at the mall. With my wife. She ran my butt into the ground. I saw this bike made into a table.

Looks like a rod brake Raleigh Tourist. Not especially rare or valuable, but I hope they just removed the stem/bar combo and the seatpost to make it work and didn't cut it up.

I can actually top this but I'll need to get a pic. There's a guy who rides his bike up and down the main drag of Ashland VA in a brightly colored outfit that usually features a tutu and a parasol. That description does not do him justice. Newspaper photo of him with admirers. Hard to tell who looks stranger.
No judgment here. The guy rides his bike more often than I do mine, and every time I see him I'm driving.

That makes me scratch my head and a sad a bit inside (I'm not sure why). When people make outdoor plant thingies with the old bicycles, my first thought is "maybe that bike could have been saved", followed by "yeah, but who would ride it then". I know they all can't be saved but a part of me wants them to.

Saw this Maruishi at a flea market today. Not a common brand in these parts. Looks decent, early 105 on a CroMo frame. Close to my size but I didn't even bother to ask the price.

Old Trek, locked up in the same place foe a week...
I've seen this old Trek on several of my rides over the last week or so, locked up by the canal path. Rough shape and kinda sad, but looks like it was a nice bike in it's day.

Nothing insanely spectacular here, but you know how it is... vintage steel in your size range always catches the eye!
And I do love the paneled Treks...
A utilitarian built Univega parked in front of the grocery store. I bet the rider was shopping with a pannier!

That Trek ^^^^^ is the same color and size, and appears to be the same year and model, as my first ever "not a POS" bike, lent to my brother over 30 years ago, who let it get stolen.

Sekine. I briefly had a pink frameset years ago that I never built up and soon passed along.
