Nashbar is going out, too.

So it seems to me that Nashbar is running down inventory in preparation of closing its doors along with Performance. Gotta wonder what kind of value are in the names or will they just be gone like the local mom and pop shops that close up every year.

We'll likely find out shortly what Amain.com intents to do with Nashbar. Tiger Group wins bid to buy ASE assets
Amain will buy the Performance and Nashbar e-commerce businesses including web domains, and trademarks for the two brands and their house P&A brands.

Just reading about the Tiger Group, it doesn't seem to me they bought the online business to operate them as a viable entity.

Rereading it, maybe Performance and Nashbar will remain as online only, which is how I've always assumed it would end.

Very, very little product listed on the Nashbar site today, indeed. For instance, just one tire listed.

Sounds like a business which buys and sells businesses bought it all. Some bike and e-commerce connections but I agree with @Wileyrat ... sounds like it was bought to be re-sold.

Tiger Group looks like it is 4 companies. One of those four companies, Tiger Capital Group LLC, specializes in liquidating companies, while another, Amain, looks to be an e-commerce retailer with a Brick & Mortar location. Amain appears to be buying the assets of Performance and Nashbar, not Tiger Capital Group. My guess is Amain wants to expand Amain Cycling and figures 2 established names like Performance and Nashbar can help. Pure speculation, but that's what it looks like to me.

Yep. It handled the Toys R Us inventory liquidation. It was also one of the liquidators of the Sports Authority.

Tiger Capital Group and Advanced Holdings Co. LTD jointly formed BikeCo, a new company to hold the trademarks. I think that suggests they're actually going to deal in new bikes, not just liquidate.

I suspect that Amain is really just buying the domain names and maybe going to use some of the distribution network, if there's anything much left of it.

The Name "Nashbar" lives.

Zombie Nashbar will stalk the interwebz, driven by an insatiable, undefinable desire ... which aficionados know is a search for its old self, where people could buy good stuff cheap.

I got emails from Performance Bike and Nashbar that were identical except the company name that they are back. Their websites seem to have the same items too.

Nashbar has been redesigned and does seem more organized.

But the great deals aren't there

Sometimes companies buy another company thinking that the new name will sell more items. What they don't realize is that the company that they bought had made its name on prices, selection, convenience, etc... After the buyout, prices go up and sales go down.
It happened to a local gun related warehouse near where I live. They got bought out, closed their walk in counter, prices went up and business floundered.

I wish Trader Joes had purchased Performance/Nashbar. Tubes, and instant brown rice, one stop.
