Bill Maher had a hysterical quote a while back, something to the effect of "The movie Blade Runner takes place in 2017 ...which means we've only got two years before we get flying cars and robots who'll f*ck us."

And $23.00 a gallon canned gasoline for lawn mowers and chain saws because pump gas ruins small engine's fuel systems.

Aerodynamic bicycle brake cables and index downtube shift levers. When I rode my Trek 500 out of the dealers my shift cable was a little out of adjustment so I took the index plates out of the then-new tech Shimano SIS levers and threw them in the ditch. I never did set back up index shifters on any of my rides yet.

Rap music, did not see that coming. And when it did I thought it wouldn't last.

Bikeforums took me by complete surprise.
Also didn't see the McRib sandwich coming.
And 13 y.o. girls who look like the 18 y.o. girls of my childhood days.

I never imagined putting a camera in cellphones would turn people into narcissistic fools. It's bad enough that everyone posting to FB thinks that every photo must have their mug in the middle of it.
I can still remember when people would return from vacation, then share photos of what they saw, and their faces were not obstructing every shot.

When I was a kid I never imagined that I would be riding bikes as I approached 60 years old. In fact I would have never imagined anything that I have done 5 years before I did it!

Fascinating to read New York Times archives on rap
"They call it toasting in Jamaica and rapping in the United States. One or more vocalists rhythmically chant, rather than sing, lengthy, breathless sequences of homilies, seductive sweet nothings, social commentary and self-delectation over instrumental dance music that's heavy on the bass and the backbeat, and usually prerecorded. "
