Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Temple, Storch, some nice Italian lugged beauty?, some Carbon Fiber full zoot race bike with all the latest electronic doo dads? what is the one where you can say.. OK, guess thats it then.. or perhaps you are fortunate enough to have found that ONE.... im hoping this will thread will full up with all sorts of weird and wonderfull builders i have never heard of.. or odd little companies that just make three or 5 a year.. not even sure what happend to temple... but at one time they were IT..

At this point, not a road bike. There are tons I would love to own, but already have two really awesome ones and a few middle of the road ones. Right now, it's a Brompton. I guess if I think about road bikes, I'd love a Milwaukee. My criteria is lightweight steel, can fit 28c tires, and medium reach brakes to allow for fenders. No disc brakes, 10 speed drivetrain, handmade wheels with White Industries T11 hubs and wider profile rims, and it would be nice to have S&S couplers so I could take it traveling with me. Or, skip the couplers and also get a Brompton.

I would like to try an Argon 18 with EPS or ETAP. Also, a Dogma 65.1 F8 and a Willier Zero should be on that list.

Mine was surprisingly modest. Haven't ridden a Cdale since the old beer can days. Have really wanted to try a CAAD10 since they came out. Built one up this spring and I'm very impressed.

Still on the list Venge ViAS, Dolan DF4.

cool,,, but this thread is also about ridiculous eye candy.. pictures and stuff.. i cant find the temple roadbike company any more... they were obscene, just beautiful gaudy not the least bit classical.. i think one i saw had a tag of 20,000.bucks... but it was cool in the way a Bugatti Veyron is cool.. its at the very edge on what ever was possible with materials or science hang the cost..

if i can find that temple roadbike out in the vast internet i will post a photo...

Only one bike? Hard to think of. Right now it would be a road bike -- possibly a Rodriguez or Davidson. But by the time I'm ready, it might just be a recumbent.

But right now, a lightweight steel sport hybrid with a road triple crankset.

It's hard for me to think of anything new as a "bucket list" bike. I buy new bikes because I like nice gear and they perform better than the old stuff, but my bucket list bike would be something old. Probably an early 70's Paramount, all original.

There are certainly other bikes from the 70's/80's that are more collectible, but the Paramounts hold a special place for me. You can still get a nice one for a fraction of the cost of a high end new bike, but I've never spent the time trying to hunt one down and I don't really think I'd ride it much. If I found a nice one nearby, I'd buy it, but it's not a priority.

I do appreciate the workmanship, etc. of a new custom steel/ti bike, but the old bikes have that also and I like the nostalgia factor of the old stuff.

I don't have a bucket list. The bike below however, satisfies the desire I've had to own a fixed-gear bike since I saw Olympic velodrome racing when I was eight years old.

Fizik, Thompson, Nitto bar/stem, SRAM levers, Dura Ace drivetrain and brakes, Tange fork, Vittoria, 1400gram wheels. Twisted very bolt myself. 18.3 lbs. Rides like a cloud.

A Caad12 or Allez Sprint. Also something nicer for the commute than my current rusty POS. Almost anything would do really.
