Cherry Creek Trail (Denver)
This is my first year that I'll be commuting in the winter. I commute from Quebec/Leetsdale to Union Station. I was wondering how is this trail maintained in the winter. Are they're any sections that I have to watch for ice? How are the underpasses? Any input is appreciated. How should I equip my bike? Thank You.

I ride this trail a fair bit in winter. They plow it every day (though it's fun to get on it at 6am before they've plowed when it's snowing lightly - pretty). I use studded tires front and back. Before I was using them I had some slipping and falling at entrances to the trail, but not on the trail itself. I guess the only warning I'd have would be to watch the water level. I look at certain benchmark features in the creek to have a feel for normal water level so that if I enter the trail and start riding and it's significantly above normal I exit again at the first opportunity to avoid riding through bottom bracket depth water (which you can have with a lot of street melt in some of the underpasses). My alternate route has been 7th Ave, but you can also use 11th. Also, I wear almost all wool under a Shower's Pass Elite jacket (some wool from the thrift store).
