Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

note the ample rainfall.

Short-acting sedatives like valium are fat soluble, so they redistribute to fat and leach back into the circulation for days, making you feel faintly like crap. I hate them.

For now.

Wait until you have a month of 95F days and everyone is watering their lawn to keep it from toasting.

Oh I knoe. I can’t imagine recreational use, and managed to avoid it on the way out. That was a day flight though, and I’d be looking at like 36 hours awake without it. The sleep quality is worse too with it (and it’s interesting to see the lingering effect show on Garmin). And athletic performance is muted.

Really looking forward to a return to routine.

I can easily imagine abusing stimulants, but not benzos, alcohol, etc.

You don't have the right receptors. Consider yourself lucky. I don't have them either, thank goodness.

I know a woman who is immune from contracting HIV. She doesn't have the receptors.

Some dude in China is in hot water for trying to insert that gene into human embryos.

Exactly. Maybe GABA-A receptor subunits.

So I think I need a new job. But I also have it too easy/get paid too well in my current job. And I feel like I want to jump industries/professions. Just burnt out at my current gig. If only bike shops paid engineering salaries...

Cast iron? Enameled? Carbon steel? Stainless? Copper? 17-ply?

Yeah, I don't know if the polymorphisms of these have really been figured out, but I am confident that they ARE a thing. My sister has dealt with real addiction issues, and I thank my lucky stars that I don't seem to have that problem.

The pans at the condo in Maui had slightly convex bottoms. You'd think flat wouldn't be such a challenge.

Why would anyone want to work at a bike shop?

As did mine. Landed in Philly in 1775, hung around Datlas’ area for awhile, moved on to east of Cincinnati, up through Indiana, and finally to eastern Illinois.

Bicycle Engineering jobs pop up every now and then. I thought Guerilla Gravity was hiring a Design Engineer, but nope, not currently.
