Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've been happy with WeatherBug for years.

We had a fantastic Wednesday ride today. Roads were mostly wet so the bike is dirty, but we had sunshine and a fairly cohesive group of ten riders, with temps a seasonably mild mid-40s.

Well once you've worked for 30 years that concept becomes clearer.

The difference is extreme cold will cost you some toes or fingers, perhaps. Extreme heat will kill you. Cold is much more manageable than heat in terms of survival.

Now if we're just talking about comfort it's a different story, there are more enjoyable activities available in warm weather than cold weather.

Regarding climate, I've lived all my 37 years in Texas and I basically hate summer. I don't mind cold weather and have been happy when work trips to the Northeast coincide with fall/winter. I would love to move there, but my wife can't do cold at all.

I am 54 and my goal was to semi-retire (drop to half time) at 50. Did not happen. Maybe before 60, depending on cost of daughter #2’s college. The people I know who are happiest have found a way to work 15-25 hours/week. That gives some structure and income, but opens up more time for cycling or volunteering or grandkids, etc.

My father worked into his 80s and years after he gave up the salary. I am in the same business and I've seen a lot of people do that, but I don't see it happening to me.

Is it easy being a PTer in a group?

My witch doctor joined a group intending to work "part time." But she quit after about 10 weeks because she was working full time.

After loosing a flock of beseeching emails, most of which weren't answered even though I know the recipients, I finally found an author for the chapter that my ******* colleague down the hall just refused to write after signing a goddamn contract with the publisher and agreeing to hand it in in July. The top people in this business have never failed to disappoint.

'Chob'm in drert, as the Yiddish say.

Also, what, exactly, is a physician's assistant?

As between a PA and a FNP, who would it be better to see?
