Rummaged around Home Depot for bits to adapt a Cannondale Trestle handlebar bag mount to a front rack. Have to get creative with this.

Reassembled the 88 Bottecchia Team Record that I rode in Palm Springs two weeks ago. EVOC bag was packed with hiking shoes and bike clothing but everyting came through just fine.

Took the Peter Mooney off the rack, dusted it off and pumped up the tires, as it's next in the rotation. Two SLX frames in a row- I must be living right!

Bikes: The keepers: 1958 Raleigh Lenton Grand Prix, 1968 Ranger, 1969 Magneet Sprint, 1971 Gitane Tour de France, 1973 Raleigh Tourist, 3 - 1986 Rossins, and a '77 PX-10 frame in process.

Have started building the '86-ish Rossin RL. I've got enough parts gathered that I'll probably have the bike half built within the coming week . . . . . but then it's find the missing parts, and some of those are going to get expensive. I really want this one to have one of the pantographed Rossin stems, and those tend of be expensive.

I did TDPalm Springs a few years ago but the harsh winds made the the ride brutal. Still had a great timr and my wife lounged by the pool for the day.

Had to cancel this year but I'm looking to do it next year.

It's a little different every year, this was my fifth time. 2015 and 16 were hot. 2017 rained for a week beforehand (even hard the night before) and half of the course was closed off. Last two years were colder than expected, temps in the 50's but sunny. And, of course, those crazy headwinds. Still a nice way to start off the season, though.

@RobbieTunes I was so ready for millions of loose bearings, but was disappointed by maybe a dozen in retainers. Then horrified when the plastic spacer that isn't really a spacer but more like an Aero covering for the adjustable cup came off in two pieces. Two dabs of superglue and I was back in business. This Tange Aero headset is so cool looking while at the same time being so silly that I plan to get it working a little better with a new bag of bearings.

stock FB market place shot

For some time I have wanted both a Novara Randonee and a bike with center mounted dt shifters, I picked this up from FB marketplace for $70 -not a great deal but I bargained down from $85. After some TLC its going to be my leave it in the bike storage at work and wring as much daylight out of afternoon rides in March and April as I can bike.

Battling more on my attempt to finally, after almost 15 years, use my Avocet triple crankset! Also ordering a set of Soma long derailleur cage plates to use a Campy SR rear mech with wide-range. All this and more for my 85 Woodrup frame (bought 2008, only now getting to it). Also dissing modern equipment on BF!

I began building up a hybrid, from an old Schwinn hi-ten road frame. 26" suspension fork on the front and 27" slick on the back.

Digging through my box of bolts, odds and ends to mount some dented VO fenders sourced from the co-op for $5 to my dented Nishiki Cresta, also from the co-op. My favorite bikes are riders with enough damage and style to inspire you to ride them into the ground, but care enough to prevent that from ever happening.

Tomorrow I intend to rebuild my rear wheel which currently runs an early Shimano 600 high flange hub laced to a Mavic Module 3, using my new Sun XCD high flange cassette hub and a 10 speed cassette. Assuming all goes smoothly, then I will mount a Microshift R10 derailleur and see how many teeth it will clear.

Watching the rain fall ... again. Wettest winter in LA since I started riding again in 2000. Was looking forward to Encino Velodrome Swap Meet today, and Pasadena's Vintage Ride tomorrow. Today is not happening, maybe tomorrow's ride? Don't know. Last month was only February in 141 year history where it never got above 70°, seriously. Brutal California Winter! 🤣 Enough whining, shut up and ride!

Took my '86 Cimarron to the LBS to have the bottom bracket removed (I lack the tool). They were slammed with work and said it would take a couple of days. That's no problem since I have a whole box of parts to clean.

Sorting out this Eddy Martens built bike. Took the decals off a set of used Mavic Kyserium SL wheels and then mounted on some new tubes and tires. Still not sure how this one will ultimately be built up.

Still need to find the proper tint green bar tape for this one too so I can rewrap the bars.
