Cable routing with internally routed aero road bars

I'm planning to install aero road bars with internal routing on my road bike (currently using Shimano 5800). Putting the cables through the actual bar is pretty straightforward, but...

I'm not sure what the best way is to route them after they exit the handlebar: straight (cables from the left shifter on the left, cables from the right shifter on the right) or crossed, or some combination thereof.

My bicycle does not have internal cable routing on the frame (thank goodness!) Advice on cable configuration is appreciated.

I would run them through the bars and see how they line up before making a decision. Or try both, it is not difficult to change before you start clamping things down.
