This thread just goes to show that there are no bad colors for French bikes.

For me, here is the first color that comes to my mind when thinking of French bikes...
I don’t know if it has a specific name, and it’s not exactly my favorite “French” color per say, but it is the color of my first French bike. The very U0-8 pictured. It was the brighter of the two purples offered then. Brilliant in the sunlight, and perfectly complimented with black, white, and gold details.

I thought about that, but I already threw in my hat for red. But here's my orange offering.

Also, obviously great minds think alike, matching orange bar tape X 2.

Actually Bikemig, I think you underestimated the age of your Grand Record. Based on the typography on the down tube and the plastic crest headtube I'd peg this one as a '72 (or maybe '73), but definitely somewhat older than '77. Nice bike, I have one just like it with all the non-Campy parts replaced with French diameter Campy NR stuff.

Yea, probably not mine either, but it comes screaming in right on top of whatever it is I think I'm thinking of as soon as I start thinking of whatever it is that I think I'm thinking of.

I think of red, my first bike I got for my grade school graduation in 1973, a red Gitane. I have no idea what model it was, but I loved it.

Blue and silver, because I've owned two blue and silver Motobecanes in my life...
Here's one of them (sadly passed away from a broken frame last year)

My gold PR10. I just scored a Stronglight 99 with drilled rings to replace the Sugino GT that I put on to replace the damaged Stronglight TS.
Not my bike, but a friend's gold PX10, which inspired my PR10 purchase.

The lovely light blues and light greens that Hersé, Singer, and other fine French builders used to such lovely effect. Alas, I don't own one of those bikes but here is the PX-10 that I painted to mimic them.

Orange, Orange!
Well, I like orange too...
My almost all original 1971 Gitane Tour de France.
My orange repainted 1972 Gitane Super Corsa frame. It was originally gold but, long story...
Original Gold
A 1974-76 Motobecane team Champion has been on my bucket list since 1974.

No green so far, . This is my Mercier 300 that I will rebuild this spring just in time to do some to get some miles in.
This is the bike as it came to me.
