Since when did...

Anodized bits like chainring bolts, spoke nipples, cable ends, housing ferrules become popular again?

I blame it on Lance and 29ers. Lance's sins disillusioned Roadies and made them question their sport. Then along came 29ers...a wheel size they could relate to. So a bunch of roadies suddenly became MTBers. Instantly drove up the 'poof factor' in MTB.

Wait, they went OUT of style at some point?

Those are some very old SRP crank bolts.

Went with some gold anodized stuff.

I've collected quite a bit over the years. The addiction started at Veloswap in 2000 or so. Picked up this big haul of 90's anodized bits in various colors for cheap, and it went from there.

Each bike has its particular hue. Have to be careful not to overdo things and get it too tacky looking.

I'm going for some slight accents.

I've found that usually looks good. Doing the hole bar/stem/post/cranks everything like that IMO is too much.

Plus the little stuff is cheaper to do anyhow!

I've got some anodized Canti brakes somewhere in a box of spare parts. Somehow I don't think they'll be making a comback.
