I (too) am back!
After roughly a year and a half of not commuting or riding regularly, and my weight ballooning from 275 lbs to 335 lbs, I'm back on the saddle and just barely starting to show minor results (health and weight-wise).
I've kept my old Jamis Commuter 1 with the trusty Shimano 3-speed IGH and have rebuilt a tired broken old wheel but other than that it's holding up pretty good considering the 65 lbs of extra weight it has to haul; this plus a couple of panniers with work clothes, shoes and personal affects!
I just wanted to say hello and that I'll be occasionally reading through these threads!

If you asked me that question 6 years ago when I started commuting, I would probably say "extremely dangerous", "totally inconsiderate drivers doing stupid/dangerous maneuvers" and "too frustrating to enjoy"...
But that's really changed in the past 5 years. I rarely ever hear car horns like I use too, and close overtakes aren't as frequent as they were, although they still happen.
There's practically no bike infrastructure, but there is a buzz from the government that it wants to build bike lanes cris-crossing Athens.
The weather's pretty good with 300+ days of sunshine and basically just a rainy season in November.
