I met Mitch at French Fender Day 2017, he's a really great guy, very modest, somewhat quiet. His M.A.P. frames are legendary in a short amount of time. When I asked about his custom dropouts and rack bits, he offered them to me "off menu".

You beat me to it, talked to his good friend Matt (current interim manager) at Performance bike Mall 205 today.
Total loss as he was just getting ready to fully reboot his whole operation after months of full on preparation to start full time production back up.
Horrible loss, custom tooling, many years of collecting, assembling, designing and refining equipment for his techniques at no doubt very high cost.

Oh, that's terrible. I met and chatted with Mitch at the 2012 NAHBS, and he seemed like a swell guy from our brief chat. No doubt an incredibly talented frame builder.
About 25 years ago, my wife and I took a spontaneous diversion to Paradise during a road trip from SoCal to Oregon. She wanted to take the I-5 and rush through the trip. I successfully argued for a slower, take-it-as-it-goes approach, with plenty stops of fancy. "If we take Route 99, where are we going to spend the night?" she asked. My eyes scanned the map...
"Paradise!" I replied, of course. No argument to that. Two 20-somethings in love, with dog in-tow, and an open road ahead. It was Paradise indeed.
I'll always think fondly of that town.
Well wishes to all those affected by the fires throughout the state. (Both my dad and brother have been evacuated, too.)

Ugh, this is horrible. Happy to put in what I can. Paul Components is very close to there as well, but their Instagram shows that the business has been spared so far.
Does anyone have a line to Jan Heine? He might be interested in doing a profile of some sort to raise awareness since MAP has had a presence in BQ. He profiled Paul Components in a recent issue, which is why the thought popped up.

My wife has a MAP and it is the only bike she rides at this point.
Would be fun to have two under the roof and if that helps Mitch down the road, even better.

It looks like Jan Heine got word, and he sent out an email this morning urging readers to donate. Also, the gofundme says that anything raised past the personal 10k goal is going toward local organizations that Mitch knows are worthwhile.

The Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, based in nearby Chico California will be releasing Resilience Butte County Proud IPA with 100% of the beer sales going to the Camp Fire Relief Fund, and have offered the recipe to every brewer in America asking them to do the same. So far over 1000 breweries have pledged to participate. Find a craft brewer near you that's on the list and have a few beers for a good cause.
