Talked to this seller when he had the bike listed a year or two ago - guess it never sold - was really cool, pleasant to chat with, but obviously wasn't rushing to sell if it's going up again this long after. Only remember it because of the description of beer foam. Tried looking back through emails and texts to see if I could find the conversation but coming up empty.

Indeed it surely is. I've seen it in a bunch of different places (the ad). Thing is, that bike is soooo tight. I'd LOVE to have it.

Can anyone speculate as to what can go wrong if you respond to an ad like this? What are the red flags besides low price and the trolling of the bike?

The bike is fake. It doesn't exist. The same photo has been posted in a lot of ads in different cities. If you email them they'll probably say they're out of town but if you could paypal them the money they'll meet up when they get back, or something to that effect.

Also, for the record, the bike is heinously ugly to my eyes.

Likely reply with "I've got multiple people in line for this," or "I've already been stood up by two people claiming they would pay more," and follow with "I need a deposit to know you're serious".

But then, there was that one jack@ss a while back who was posting pics of glorious bikes they didn't own - some belonging to BF'ers in C&V - all over the country on CL at rock bottom prices and ignore the dozens of people emailing trying to get in first. I recall someone saying "they thought it was funny to see how desperate some people would actually get".

Very unique build.
Must be fun to see it up for sale, and being discussed on BF...where you got to see it again!

Any regrets you sold it?
How did it ride?

I'd say he's kinda breaking even price-wise, although he is tossing in a set of Ergo's, so there's that.
My only issue with the frameset was the mentioned small rusting area, which has apparently not gotten any worse over the past five years, so no big problem. I had a good time with thiis one, built it with ten speed Ultegra before selling it with the DA. It is a good bike.

"Clean bicycle
23 inch frame,700cc wheels
Suntour cyclone
New tubes , rides great!!"
https://slo.craigslist.org/bik/d/san...026100700.html
$160. Some nice details and Cyclone is a good group from its period. I'm almost tempted to go over and make him a lowball offer just to pick up the wheels and components, but I don't really need or have room for them.
Looks like a KHS, perhaps?

I could potentially facilitate this, if needed.
