Best cycling films?

Hi to all. It is very sad to see, but the world gets quarantined more and more because of the corona virus. Fortunately, where I live, I can still go for a bike ride, but all races and bigger events in general are being cancelled. It is not unlikely that I won’t be able to go for a bike ride soon too because of the virus restrictions.

That lead me thinking that I should stock up with cycling films. I thought about the best cycling films I have ever seen. One recent documentary that I really loved was “Wonderful Losers: A Different World” by Arunas Matelis, which had Svein Tuft and Chris Anker Sorensen (and others) as its heroes. I thought it was quite artsy, but really inspiring. It felt it showed the true beauty of cycling. I bought it on iTunes.

What are your favourite cycling films? Can we gather a list for quarantine days, just in case? ))

My favorite cycling documentary has got to be: Premium Rush. Probably the finest piece documentary on bicycle messaging they have ever done.

Breaking Away is a fantastic movie, Cutters for life, baby!

No other cycling film even comes close to the greatness of Jakkalan.

From 2010, often overlooked in these threads. Great soundtrack and pacing, amazing camera work. Much better race footage than you will ever see on any live race coverage. Loved every frame:

Yeah, I tripped over the movie while channel surfing one evening and it turned out to be really good. Cameo by hour record holder Moser, if I recall correctly, since that challenge was what Obree was all about.

Comedy movie made in 1934. Has some great shots of actual 6 day races.

I lived in Indiana when "Breaking Away" came out. I actually paid to see the movie at a theater. I don't do that very often and I don't regret having done it.

Excellent point! As long as the thread title isn't misleading you can just skip over the thread. I've never understood why some people can't seem to understand that.

I'm watching The Stand. OK, maybe not strictly a bike movie, but Nick Andros and Tom Cullen ride bikes. And it's topical for other reasons. Retro, as in retroviral.
