Just wanted to say I missed you all

So I was way more active several years ago when, during my last career, I was able to sit in front of a computer all day at work, commute to work on my bicycles year round, and generally more active.

Well 2015 I changed careers, a fast paced one working as a cop in Chicago's most violent neighborhoods. 2016 had my 3 kid, the commuting stopped, the eating right stopped, the riding stopped, the weight returned.

When i first wandered in here I was around 275, a year later I was at 215, career and life happened and I ended back up at 260. The last few months I tried to keep a better eye on my eating habits and dropped back around 245ish.....emphasis on the "ish"

Well I moved from where I had access to a paved bike path, and that I spent several thousand miles on prior, to gravel trails that aren't super road bike friendly, but way less traffic and way more ability to ride long distances. So I've picked up a few project bikes and going to build a gravel grinder/touring bike.

Goal is just to get back my endurance and cardio abilities. In that process hopefully get back down to 215, while adding in some weight training and the like.

I see that the group has grown and still has the welcoming feel it had many a moon ago. Which I am thankful for, and forever am I grateful for a dear contributor, the late Mr. Tom Stromcrowe who I had the distinct pleasure of trading emails and PMs back and forth when I first ventured into cycling and weightloss.

Here's to a mad dash at the end of summer and hopes that I will fit (actually fit not 10 lbs in a 5 lb bag kinda fit) into that C&A jersey I have hanging in front of my closet.

Much love to you all and anyone who lives around I290 and Harlem in the chicago area drop me a message or email, I'm always looking for a riding partner!

God bless and see you all on the trails!

Welcome back! You will be sad to learn that the guy (PhotoJoe) who orchestrated the C&A jerseys passed away last year from an unreasonable number of run-ins with cancer.

Good luck with the gravel bike project, that's my next dream bike.

As a former law dog with more than than 26 years under my belt, and having buried a few buddies who let the unhealthy lifestyle overcome them shortly before or just after retirement, I encourage you to keep up the work on your fitness and eat right.

As well as the 4,001 other things that contribute to getting you home safely.

Be safe!
