Motobecane Jubilee Sport

I believe this is a 1981. The blueline rear derailleur was replaced with a cyclone mkII. Needs a lot of little things like chain, cables, saddle and so on, but the frame is nice; rust and dent free. 23" frame. SR pedals. Motobecane handlebars and brake calipers. Weinmann brake levers. Rigida alloy rims.

Any info or idea of value is appreciated.

One of these sat on CL in Syracuse for the better part of the summer of 2019 at $175. A 25" 1982, same colorway. Nice shape. Might have sold faster if they had spelled Motobcane correctly!

As a buyer, in my area, I'd say it is worth around $75.

Thanks guys! There just doesn't seem to be a lot of knowledge on this site about Motobecanes. Maybe they were uncommon back in the day? Even old Moto catalogues are scarce. I believe it is a 1982 model although the match for equipment appears to be a cross between 1981 and 1982.

I picked this up for $70, no great bargain. It is actually a decent frame, and quite light for its size. It needs lots of stuff but its a good tinkering project for the winter months. And all the basics function well, like the brakes, derailleurs and crank. It should turn out well.

Here is the 1982.

I had a 19" Jubilee Sport that I converted to singlespeed a few years ago. Sold for $250 if memory serves. Really nice, supple ride, with the "inexternal" lugs. I'd buy these at $70 every day and twice on Sundays.

Nice buy for $70. Vitus 888 tubing; the 1982 did not have Helicomatic hubs...

Thanks. I'm not sure what you mean on the hubs. Both the 81 and 82 were listed in the catalog with Shimano hubs and Rigida rims. The 81 was listed with a Vitus 172 frame and the name "Jubile". This one has the 888 frame (82) but the name "Jubile" (81). The other 82 spec that doesn't match is the Blueline front derailleur on this bike with the catalog showing a Blackline for '82 and Blueline for '81.. The rear derailleur definitely was changed to a Cyclone.

I believe the Jubilee Sport had the Helicomatic hub in later years, so I like the fact that the 1982 model did not have them. I should have been more clear about that. Is that a replacement fork?

I believe it is, probably from an '83 or '84.

You'd be surprised how much "hands-on" experience the members of this sub-forum have with Motobecanes. I've owned five or six (French Motobecanes) over the years. I rode one as my all-purpose bike in the 1980s. Several of the Francophiles on the C&V subforum are quite well versed in this brand.

I had a Jubile Sport about a decade ago. It was the blue and cream color scheme and had the Helicomatic rear hub. I re-covered the blue vinyl saddle. Nice enough rider. You did okay in today's market on this one. It will need a lot of love to get it running again.

Thanks Phil. It just seemed like posts about Peugeots gets a quick response while questions about Motobecanes tend to sit longer. I'm grateful for any info.

Finally ready for sale. It came out pretty well. In my market I imagine it is worth $225-$250. I will find out in the spring when I list it.
