Addiction 2021.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It started getting darker when I left to ride and when I got to 3000 feet, or so, I rode into a cloud. By the time I got to the top it was windy and in the 30s. Put on my extra layer and started toward the descent and discovered I had gloves that weren't working. Hands were still stinging after I showered.
Only got sprinkled on a little and now it seems like it's over. Might be our driest year ever.

HA!

It's a 107. No good for Sante, or even 1st generation RX100, but I could use it for 105sc.........

Got in my first metric of the year. In a shocker, it was made apparent that my strength and endurance have waned a bit over the winter. I'll have content myself with the thought that proper, skinny tires would have made me a good 20 minutes faster. Does that sound about right, or should I bump that to 40 minutes?

I think best answer is double your average speed.

One does not lock a Jeep that has a soft top.

*fingers drumming on tabletop*

Still no email from LBS. Grinding teeth. Trying to decide drop-dead time for email - how late can I leave here and still get there before he closes. I really think having the actual bike built up might reduce my Vintage Bike cravings. But he's good, and he's friendly, and he's treated me well over the years, so I'm not going to heckle him.

Not many “breakins” in the sense of vandalism, but people check for unlocked doors. In 2010 I had a bike and phone stolen from my house while the GF and I were home and awake. No forced entry. We must have forgot to lock the front door when we got home from Christmas shopping and dinner. We were in bed watching the late news. Heard the guy when he shut the door as he left. The first floor smelled like an unwashed person.

More misleading pictures. That is a disassembled bar.

This is Van der Poel's broken bar.
