Anyone here both a cyclist and a motorcyclist?

Yes, Me!

I moved to Santa Cruz Ca, bought an old lugged steel Specialized Sirrus and a VFR 800 Honda. And I love them both. I have been deeply impressed by the skills and the consideration shown by all 2 wheelers, powered or not, on the tricky canyon roads from Skyline between and down to High way 1. And I've enjoyed both the engine and my 63 year old legs!!

Nice here, Eh?!

I have an old Trek 830 bicycle with hybrid tires, and a 2014 Suzuki SFV650 motorcycle. Love them both, they fit me great!

I was, years ago. There's a similar thread in the Foo forum.

My favorite bike that I actually owned was a Honda Ascot VT-500, V-twin with shaft drive, low maintenance, just enough squirt to do the job in traffic. Nothing fancy, although it looked great. Just a great commuter. I tried much more powerful bikes but didn't need 'em for commuting and leisurely rides -- I weighed only 160 lbs, same as now.

My favorite bike that I wish I'd bought was a Yamaha SRX 600, and its predecessor the SR500. I can't begin to describe how amazing that bike was, but only if you're into that peculiarly Japanese notion of love of all things retro-American. They distilled all the best stuff of Americana motorcycling into a single cylinder, kick start 600 that was just a pure pleasure to look at and ride.

My fave m/b was my Suzuki 500 2 stroke. Loved it. Least fave was a Velocette 500 single . . . .I forgot to top up the oil in my Suz 250 and seized it (nice bike until then) and I had 2 trials bikes though I was soooo bad at that . . .

Then I went back to cycling and been with it ever since.

English actually. The Japanese were right into British bikes in the mid 80s and earlier. The Honda GB500 and 400 were even more British. Both the SRX and GB came out with adverts with guys in pudding bowl helmets and flying goggles in front of English manor houses. The inspiration for the SR and GB was an amalgam of the BSA Gold Star and the Manx Norton. The SRX not so much, some kind of modern update of the idea of a sporting single. I lusted after all of them, ended up with an XBR500 for a while, the Honda equivalent of the SRX which didn't make it to the US. Now I've got two GB400s including a GB400TTMKII and an XR650L engine in bits. They are a twisty road fiend, not fast in top speed, but you don't need to slow down much with Dunlop TT100 GPs on them. They also go up in value every year, which is nice.

Santa Cruz = close to heaven on earth for a cyclist.

I haven't been on a motorcycle in 30 years - I probably couldn't get a proper fit these days.

I'm more of a motorcyclist though... I find rural bicycling puts me in too much uncontrollable risk with the cages. Love urban bicycling though - bicycles are much more evenly matched in that environment.

Scooterist. Does that count? 1982 Vespa P200E back in the day and a Lambretta Cento a few years before that. Still have the M endorsement on my license despite not having been on a m/cycle in close to 30 years, so I can theoretically ride anything out there I dare too.

Some time back I did fantasize about buying a 1970s Japanese bike with a fairly small displacement (like a Honda CB250 or Yamaha RD250) but nothing came of it for being a bit cash-strapped the last couple of years. However, some decent looking bikes were selling for around $1k, which I thought was pretty reasonable considering I sold my Vespa for $2500.

My wife and I do double up on a 2014 H-D 883 Sportster Super Low, we just took it in for the 30,000 mile check up! We love to tour but we like to "kick back" so we don't need the BIG motor or high horsepower machines! Live to RIDE, RIDE to Live!

I have a 1969 Honda CB750. Still have it and am second owner. I've had it since '72. Haven't ridden it in 3-4 years, carbs could use a stripping and cleaning I expect. Should do it and sell it and put the proceeds in my grandsons 529 accounts.

I have replaced my motorcycle every 3 years as I just got bored with them. In 2000 I picked up a used Moto Guzzi Jackal and have been riding it ever since. Not really a "motorcyclist" per say, but I ride it often, and use it primarily for commuting. I have a plan for when the ol' body doesn't function on a bicycle anymore. Been X country twice and dumped it twice, but have been injured only on the bicycle and X country skiing!! Crazy, eh?

When I left the country in '06 I got rid of my car. Then I returned for a few months in '08 and used my motorcycle; but I got rid of it when I left.

I came back late '14 and have only had my bicycle since.

Right you are, I disremembered those ads and brochures. The only SR I rode was a well used one years later. Nice bike, not quite enough squirt for highway commuting.

The SRX not so much, some kind of modern update of the idea of a sporting single.
Yup, the SRX borrowed a bit from BMW, and the lines were similar to the Honda VT-500 I rode for years. I'd have preferred a more cafe racer retro look and gas tank shape.

I've been a motorcyclist since around 1975. Have ridden a lot of different bikes but for the past 20 years mostly Ducati. Currently have a Ducati 2005 SS1000DS. Was also an MSF Instructor. Have been a cyclist since around 1982. Currently my go to bike is a Guru Sidero (steel). The more I cycle the less I motorcycle. No more cross-country trips or 1,000 mi. days on the Ducati.

My Father lives in Aptos (Hames Road, quite close to the Corralitos market) he is 80 and just bought another motorbike, a Guzzi 750
I live in Minnesota and ride a BMW 1200 GS ADV, and an R1100R with an Armec sidecar

A Trek Roadbike it's nice, carbon fiber. Perfect for me
A specialized fat tire, Fat Boy or something like that. Lottsa fun and gets me out in the winter

Me. 1970 Triumph Bonneville
1971 Honda CL350
1974 Honda CB750
2000 Kawasaki W650 - Bonneville homage bike.

And about 50 miles is all my tail bone can take on these bench seats. Even tried it with padded bike shorts.

Yes, a couple of bicycles for the cyclist part, and a double-dipping motorcyclist with a 2001 Gold Wing, and a 2014 Suzuki DL650 Adventure.

Via edit -

Here's my favorite picture of the VStrom. Parked outside one day in a rain storm.

And one of the Gold Wing - the day I retrieved it from the previous owner.

I do both. My favorite motorcycle is my Honda Blackbird AKA CBR1100XX. It has a top end of 185, although it's only seen 150 with me. I've been fortunate to have owned 23 motorcycles in my life, more than I've owned bicycles. My Yamaha YZ426F comes in a close second but I raced motocross on that one and I think motocross is the sport of kings!
