Acquired this lovely frameset as a donor bike, was sold to me as 58 size, but it is 55 seat tube c2c, my size really . So in dilemma now, build or pass on Frame is in excellent condition, and Campi bits that I stripped off put it into 2000 year, when these were actually built by Billato from Columbus Zonal alloy. Fork is carbon, stem is Marin and handlebars are FSA Wing Pro (not shown here) Like the clean lines and the colour scheme , but unsure of these frames as I ride steel mainly and also hoping to do N-1 rather than N+1.

So if I pass this on, is this worth anything or should I just build it up as a, hm, winter bike perhaps? All replies and comments appreciated, thanks.

Yes, it's worth something. This is a later Argenta model I had a couple years back, also with a carbon fork. This one has carbon seatstays and yours look like aluminum, but otherwise pretty similar.

What sticks out in my memory was this was a stiff ride. Wasn't anywhere near my all-time punishingly stiff reference (Cannondale R5000Si), but still pretty stiff. Thought the carbon stays would soften that up a bit, but nope.

Sold this one for $375 after fitting some MicroNew shifters to replace the original Shimano. For a frame/fork only, $125 - 150 seems about right.

That's a very short wheelbase. Indeed, all of my short-wheelbase bikes have been stiff-riding bikes, whether steel or aluminum. If you're looking for a Surly-like ride, look for something with a longer wheelbase.

Wow ! Very clean --- I like loud paint schemes

It likely has a sporty ride, but you never know -- they were doing good things with aluminum tubesets in those years to tune the ride quality

Yes, I've heard so, but never ridden an old alu frame to compare with newish ones. This one has nice clean lines and true, colours are loud, this is not a bike for a shrinking violet for sure

Marin is a company that's not afraid to stand out a bit color-wise ---- my 1991 vintage machine that I will get around to restoring one day is testament to that ! - LOL

I had one of these I bought in 2000. Great riding bike for a all aluminum frame. The welds would give Klein a run! My understanding it was built by the Bilato brothers. I like their bikes. I bought it for 2 reasons: All campy and the colors!

Sold it of course. If it were in my size I would be tempted.
