Things are pretty mellow in Flag lately since a big train derailment over by the AZ/NM border shut down operations on our part of the Seligman sub this weekend. Word on the street has it that they've got at least one track operational again, so might be getting some rail traffic again here in a minute.

I'll add that in the last several weeks whist driving to band practice I saw CSX railway maintenance that I hadn't seen in a long time. One week a guy was working at the crossing cleaning the signal lights and such. Another week there was a bunch of machines on the tracks by the intersection and they appeared to be working on the tracks themselves.

We used to see a lot of BNSF engines pulling crude oil tank cars. Now that the Dakota Access Pipeline is built, not very many. Still a fair amount of Ethanol for Fuel. We used to have 10 minute train delays. Very rare to go over 5 these days.

it was a good news bad news weekend
had a nice ride this am, took it easy but didn’t use too much assist on a nice short climb route. beautiful weather. had a couple beers at the baseball game the night before so heart rate was +5bpm.
carfax magically decided the car i’m selling was not actually stolen simply by a potential buyer inquiring on the phone with NCB about the status, and asking why carfax reported that NCB said stolen but NCB’s own vincheck did not.
saw my brother.
but i also managed to fall out of our garage “attic storage” (put my foot on the opening for the stair) and got banged up pretty good. very shocking mishap, took me a while to get back to normal. chest hurts like crazy especially when coughing or laughing, forearm is swollen and scraped and bulging out on one side, a foot hurts, etc. luckily my arms and chest sort of caught my fall, didn’t hit my head at all. i am so ready to be done moving.
not sure about riding for a little bit with the arm. we’ll see.

I can certainly NOT recommend building wheels with DT Spoke Freeze. It does it's job incredibly well, to the point of making future truing pretty much impossible.

I have been leaving my glasses in the drawer of late. My right eye is noticeably getting worse and likely the left is compensating. I can’t drive without them but almost everything else.

I have thought about consulting someone else. There is a group by UT Hospital. Not sure how much they are worth, but I checked Google reviews recently and one or two of the doctors had negative ones. 
I have an appointment with my existing doctor in 2.5 weeks. I'll wait until then to reassess. My impression is that he's an OK doctor as far as treatment plan goes. But he's not easy to have a discussion with (seems kind of scatter-brained), and they are scheduling the appointments too far apart, given my issues. And seeing his noctor is a waste of time if things aren't going well.
