Cannondale Synapse Carbon 5/Cannondale CAAD9-5

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cannondale Synapse Carbon 5/Cannondale CAAD9-5

I recently acquired enough money to buy a better bike. I have approx. $1000 to buy a bike. I found a Cannondale Synapse Carbon 5 for $1150 after tax it would end up being around $1250. There was also a Cannondale CAAD 9 5-D for $1200 which would end up being $1300+ after tax.

Lastly everybody is probably going to hate me for this. But I'm also considering a Windsor Knight from bikesdirect. Its $900 and I wouldn't have to pay shipping and tax i guess. Apparently it comes with ultegra parts but that probably doesn't mean much since I've heard the frame on the Cannondale are extremely good.

I've heard good reviews for the CAAD 9 5. Nothing about the Synapse Carbon 5 and for being a bikesdirect bike I've heard pretty good reviews for the Windsor Knight. Can anybody help me decide. It really like to spend the least amount of money but I suppose if its such a big difference I can figure out a way to make up the extra money

I'm trying to find the best value for as close as $1000 possible. Also hoping I can find a pretty good bike under 20 lbs.

CAAD by far the best aluminum bike frame ever manufactured on this planet. Done deal. I rather get best aluminum than entry level carbon.
