Bit of a headwind making my way to class after work yesterday afternoon and summery weather conditions. Can tell fall's coming soon though and not just by the calendar. So I keep my eyes on the prize... The best riding weather of the while year -- October and November.

I did notice that the mudflap on the front fender was damaged though on the way from work yesterday. Fortunately, Planet Bike sells small parts, and online, too, since the nearest bike shops listed add local dealers didn't have that small party in stock. $5 and free shipping gets me two new mudflaps direct from PB! :-) Jury rigged with some duct tape for the time being.

Nice ride home after class in the ten pm darkness. Picked the darkest side street near my apartment to ride down to take in the glorious brightness of my dynamo headlight. Love that thing!

Nice ride in this morning. Should be a low traffic ride home today. Leaving early to help take 4 mo. old son for checkup.

Happy long weekend, America!

good, found a new way to work that takes me a little through the countryside instead of only urban areas. it also adds a tiny bit of distance (15.5miles RT vs. 13miles RT). the best part is that my gf (who has been riding with me most days) selected it.

Warm and humid this morning 75f (24c). Rain in the forecast, and it appears to be in the forecast for the next several days.

Came into the office yetserday to tidy up a bit...svaed 10 minutes oiff of my usual 30-min commute due to the U.S. Labor Day holiday and no traffic out there.

Ride was nice coming in but it feels like Summer temps will never end.

We are trapped in the remnants of Hurricane Isaac and it's been raining nearly every day for the past few weeks. It rained more than 2.5 inches over the weekend, so the humidity was incredible this morning altho at least it wasn't raining. Got to work, however, and the A/C was broken. So I'm sitting in my office sweating worse than I was riding to work on my bike. It's gonna be a long day.

62F/17C and moist. It was raining before I left, but it didn't rain when I was riding. I wore my rain kit anyway. I'll probably need it for the ride home. Light traffic. Saw a couple of bicyclists headed the other way.

I'm grouchy today. First day after a long weekend, I guess.

After two weeks hiatus due to the mishap I related here earlier, I'm back in the saddle, and it felt great! There was some misty to light rain, for which I was even more careful to not stress the healing injury. Part of the route is closed for construction but I didn't want to detour around involving a hill (I promised the surgeon no hill) so I snuck through.

Including the shower at work it took about an hour for the trip, less than 10 miles, which makes me thankful that I've left the speedometer off that bike. I don't want to think about how fast or slow I'm going, but just get there.

Still dark when I left the house. I knew it was coming, I need to invest in more lights.
Misty rain, humid, warm.
The ride was uneventful.

I braved the threat of rain and rode my super short route (4.25ish miles). Nothing eventful or even interesting. I need a longer route!

Humid is the order of the last few days here, including today. Went to vote in a special election this morning, plus it was first day of school, so a little extra traffic. Had an appointment before work so didn't take my regular route. Kinda glad I didn't. Only one school along the route instead of two. Parents in urban assault vehicles distracted by nervous kids <> attentive drivers.

About to head off to class. All in all, gonna get about 20 commute miles in today instead of the usual 15. Happy for the extra miles, despite the humidity.

Coming home I figured to be a test of whether I'm back to soon, 11 days from having my collarbone tied together. Did I jar the bones loose at the plate, or pull too hard? If so then somewhere, some pain should show up on the ride. I've been a little unconventional with this, but still I'm nervous, and nervous more about the conditions where a fall could set everything back, with my confidence already shaken. It was a carbon copy of this morning: same temperature, same wet weather, same speed. Uneventful, pleasant, and easy though I'm riding practically one handed with the lightest touch on the left. There is no extra pain, maybe some twinges in the shoulder but nothing alarming. I think I've turned the corner!

Seemed like it would never end. Didn't get enough sleep last night so riding was a chore.

Warm and muggy this morning at 78f (26c). Lots of clouds, but it is difficult to tell what it is going to do. I will bring the bike in, if rain gets heavy .

I haven't left home yet today, but yesterday's commute was amazing. It had been pouring outside for a few hours, but I waited until my 'normal' time to leave, and the rain had let up...but there was a thunderstorm off to the west. Riding to school next to a thunderstorm was exciting. I loved it!!

65F/18C and humid. There was rain in the area but I just packed the rain jacket in a pannier in case I needed it. It's too sticky to wear a jacket if I don't need to.

I took the scenic MUP next to Lake Champlain today. I was rewarded with a howling northerly headwind.

Indeed, with a big dose of humidity to boot. Had a 20 mph headwind on my way to class yesterday after work. Not fun, but by the same token it allowed me to better appreciate the advantages of the drop bars I recently put on my Surly. Had a similar wind at my back this morning, so I guess it balanced out in the end.

Another good ride in, and it's nice to have that beater bike (the old GMC Denali!) with a triple crank and 32mm tires for just easing down the road. Every ride feels better, hopefully that's not just wishful thinking.
