I just love it when...
I decided I need to share a couple of things, and I would like to see what others celebrate related to riding or weight loss. Just complete the sentence in a way that has given you that extra boost.
... I rode a 34 mile hilly (for me) ride early in the season.
... I lost enough weight, and gained enough confidence to get up off the saddle and sprint for a while.
... I don't hurt after a 35 mile ride.
... the thought of longer rides becomes exciting, and not daunting.

I don't have much recent to celebrate. The rain and overtime is keeping me off the bike. There has been minimal weight loss, though yesterday I was down 1 lb to 216.2 from over the course of about 2 months.
How is this. I was just out sweating my rear off up on a ladder and upon climbing back down to take a break in the AC, I was wearing my shorts gansta style. I've already tightened the belt through all the holes and punched a new hole. Now the bottom of my shorts were hanging about 8 inches below the knee, LOL. Hiked them up when I got up the steps and will be looking to punch a new hole in the belt.
Sheesh, it's not even hot here at work yet and already I'm a sweaty mess. Love humidity. Miserable no matter what the temp, though tomorrow when it climbs up to around 115 on the floor and the AC keeps it down to about 90 in the office is going to be a lot more unpleasant.

Not sure if it fits in here, but I remember when I first started riding I used to hope to catch the signal lights red, to get a quick breather. Now I hate it when I have to stop.
So I guess it would be, I just love it when I catch the light green.

I just love it when I complete a 35 or 40 mile ride and get up the next morning ready to do it again.
There re was a time where 25 Miles was an epic journey, worthy of celebrating with a good meal and many days off. Now I tell myself after a hard ride that I should go out and do a recovery ride. If I do an easy ride, it was just a warm up.
Looking forward to the day when I can say the same about 60, or 80 Miles.

Cool thread!
I've ridden my bike for transportation, driving my car just 7 times in 69 days.

Actually, I love riding my bikes. But age does create some limitations, no matter good a shape you think you are in.......

Speaking of aging, another addition, especially relevant with my slowing metabolism:
... Telling someone that I would lose 10 pounds in 4 weeks, then discovering that I only have a pound to lose to get there, with a little over a week to go.

THANKS GUYS!
I needed this thread.
I have been allowing some medical troubles (all f'n inconvenient, but not dangerous) to ruin my mood.
But this thread... Well great to see you guys doing cool things... Reminds me that a number of things wentr right, just that I tend to only keep track of those that didn't...
SO.
It's been a great summer so far. 1 metric, 1 200k (a dnf, didn't make the time but did the route plus a few bonus miles), and a slow century.
A few GREAT rides with my SO. Many more just merely marvelous, and some pretty good...
Last commute my average speed to work was up .5 mph but my ride home was faster and that's NEVER happened!
Also started riding a short local loop with daughter. It's actually a bit too challenging. But go figure, she's pretty fast.
Hills "look" a lot smaller then they did last year.
Weight is same/same, which I wouldn't care about if not for Blood Pressure. Body composition has significantly improved...
Last real vice, alcohol... Well, due to health issues it's out, and I gotta mean it this time. Already gave up so many foods, red meat, turkey, even oatmeal. Sodium... But I gotta admit for everything I miss I found something else I like better... And it has been really good for me, and I feel a lot better... On the food bright side because of riding I can eat some carbs.
So all in all, there's been enough good things this year for the whole year and there's a lot of year left...
Seeing what you guys have done, there's room to step it up my game and I'll feel better because of it.

I just love it when
...a planned 10 mile ride turns into 20 or more
...I can ride 62 miles faster than my first 50 mile attempt last year
...my daughter begs me to go for a bike ride even if we just returned from one
...I hear compliments of my weight loss (though a little annoyed that everyone seems to be making a big deal over it)
...when I return from a long ride and feel like I could do it all over again

I improve times on Hills. Ones that used to leave me breathless seem flatter.
Also pr's on Strava.
And hearing I don't need to take my cholesterol medicine any more.
And this happened tonight.
Hearing the hill that I stopped on twice to ride, some much lighter guys walk up.
Fat lad at the back but losing weight week by week.

I just love it when a multiple of ten shows newly on the scale... and it's LESS than the last time.

Last night I rode the same hills and noticed that I wasn't down in the lowest gear. I climbed my biggest hill halfway up in 2 higher of a gear before I had to drop down. Real happy about this as I haven't even been riding much because of rain and work.

I just love it when...
- I spent the money on a bike fit and found myself more comfortable, enabling me to ride further than 15 miles without my entire body being in pain.
- I upgraded my wheels and picked up 1 mph over my usual, hilly path.
- I upgraded my cassette and found my climbs far easier, since I had the right equipment for the area I ride in.
- I can do 25 miles without being overly sapped of energy and not in any pain.
