Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A combination of Performance and the odd sale elsewhere. I never pay list price. Performance has by far the best combination of quality and reasonable price.

I've probably bought more at Sierra Trading than any other single store, generally using the 30-35% weekly coupons they send out.

I buy them wherever they're on sale. Pearl Izumi outlets, Voler sale section, performance bike sales, REI, etc. I've learned never to pay full price for anything. There's always a sale somewhere.

I pick a lot of mine up at Marshall's. They have a ton of active wear really cheap but you have dig through a lot to fine any cycling specific stuff if they have any at all. Of coarse some of the running stuff also works fine for biking, most of my winter stuff is running gear.

Usually locally at stores like REI, because I have a hard time finding clothes that fit and want to try them on. I have ordered multiple items from Terry and been very satisfied with their selection.

I've found a few things I liked at Sun & Ski before but never bought. I loathe Performance - though the only one I've been to its the one on Westheimer.

With the exception of my jerseys from the company for the MS150, all my clothes are from Amazon. More selection, more colors, better price, easy exchange if the size is wrong.

In decreasing order of purchases - ebay, direct from Voler, competitive cyclist, direct from Louis Garneau, direct from Boure.

I have a lot of Louis Garneau custom program sizing samples, and a few team left overs I bought new on ebay. $15-$45 beats $80+ when you multiply by riding six days a week.

Voler uses an Elastic Interface Technology Comp HP pad which is very comfortable with 120 kg/m^3 foam beneath the sit bones and not much extra where there shouldn't be any.

Boure still makes shorts with flat synthetic leather chamois.

Nashbar and Performance don't stock anything below size small, and most companies either don't make small enough jerseys or don't sell them outside their custom programs.

Currently addicted to Rapha jerseys, they fit me perfectly. I will pay full price, although it hurts. When things go on sale, all the better.

I need Castelli shorts for the TT bike (it's a chamois thing), I bought both of my pairs at my LBS. Skinsuit came from whoever was cheapest when I googled it.

And wherever the club kits come from, the latest is from Alpine.

Walmart and JCPenny. I don't wear cycling specific gear. I buy Starter athletic t-shirts at Walmart (just bougth another one yesterday) and most of my shorts come from JCPenny as I like their Arizona brand clothing.

I only have 1 pair of cycling shorts which I don't like. They were some $20 or $25 shorts on Amazon. The elastic in the leg dang near cuts off circulation and I really hate wearing tight clothing. Tight clothing just makes me hotter. I run hot as it is, I can sweat in 35° weather. The tight clothing just makes it worse.

Performance has cycling padded underwear. I'd like to try them out. I'll have to make another trip down there to get a pair.

Amazon.com. You can order boat loads and return the stuff you don't like. If you have Prime (like I do) shipping is free.
