Tool to hold bbt-22 in place on spindle
Has anyone seen a tool to hold a BBT-22 (Bottom Bracket Cup Remover Tool) in place? Mine keeps wanting to torque off. Maybe something that threads into the end of the spindle and clamps the BBT-22 snug against the BB?
I guess I could just get a threaded rod, some wide washers and a couple nuts?

An M8x1.0 bolt 40 or 50 mm long works. Depending on the bolt's length you may need a stack of washers to fill in the excess as Bill shows above.
Note the bolt must be threaded M8x1.0 mm, not the more common M8x1.25 mm.

This is my version to hold a fixed cup wrench.

I use a bar clamp across tool, BB and all. Works great to hold the tool in the splines and no fiddling to get the right stack of washers. It is also useful for clamping other stuff. Cheap at Harbor Freight.

Pedros makes a tool for that.
https://pedros.com/products/tools/pe...socket-holder/
It works on both square taper with 8mm threads and ISIS which has 15mm threads. I use one and it works.

Like a QR skewer/cassette removal?
How much "fiddling to get the right stack of washers" do you think it takes?

With the washers/bolt you can use a socket for those tough ones.

Yeah, that's what I don't like about the BBT-22. Why did they make it so tall? Shimano's own tool for the cartridge, the TL-UN74, is much shorter and you can use the bottom bracket's own bolt or nut to hold the tool in place.

The Park tool has a smaller hole in the end, so the bolt trick is a little less sloppy with it.

Looking at pictures of the TL-UN72, I really don't see much difference from my TL-UN74.

Mine is a TL-UN74. I haven't had any problems with it, but I'm not sure that I've tried it with a UN-26 cartridge. It works with UN-51 and some other third party cartridges I've tried.

My hole measures .79"
EDIT- maybe this pic from the business end may show different thickness?

Steel is real
Sometimes when it's a *****, i'll just lay the bike down on the ground so there's support on the other side of the BB, force pressure downward on the tool, turn, loosens every time.
