I'm assuming it got it's name as a tribute to in WWII when pilots saw things that they couldn't identify. They didn't call them UFOs, as a slang they chose to call them "Foo Fighters". So the Foo, is the category for unidentified (or non-bike related) topics. At least that was always my understanding.

^^^ Interesting, I'd never heard that before. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing here Foo is the 3rd or 4th most viewed forum behind C&V, Road & maybe General. I thought everyone checked in with the humorous threads like funny gif's, videos and photos (2 million + views). There are a lot of music and photography threads....just a cool place for cyclists to talk about things other than cycling & bikes.
As mentioned before, just the fact that it causes confusion to new members trying to hit 10 posts, and the fact that it draws a lot of viewers to Bike Forums (a good thing right?) I can't see the reason to continue to not count posts. Is there a fear that BF will be over-run with comedians, photographers & musicians? One well-respected Foo poster of photos & music who pretty much stays in Foo was "put down" in a non foo thread post for only having 104 or so posts and being a member since the early 2000's, so how could her opinion or comment have merit.

the rules about not counting posts in foo and other non-cycling forums were set back in the early days before the forum got sold. Not sure it really ever made sense, but maybe people get embarrassed about having 18000 posts or something.

You can exert any pressure you like (measured however you like.) Just take a modest force and concentrate it on a very small area, like a sharp needle tip. Many thousands of psi easy.

Welcome to the forum. Yes, your initial post counts toward the total. Why not go to the Introductions forum and post something about yourself, then go to the Bicycle Mechanics forum to post about your issue. Even without photos, you can start the process of gaining assistance.

Technically, a "Sagan" is defined as "billions and billions."
I've been told, though I remember differently, that Dr. Sagan never actually said, "…billions and billions …" However, any recognition I can give him is deserved.

“It’s hard to talk about the Cosmos without using big numbers. I said “billion” many times on the Cosmos television series, which was seen by a great many people. But I never said “billions and billions.” For one thing, it’s too imprecise. How many billions are “billions and billions”? A few billion? Twenty billion? A hundred billion? “Billions and billions” is pretty vague. When we reconfigured and updated the series, I checked—and sure enough, I never said it.”
