Wandering through the Cascade mountains

Just got back from a 5 day tour up in the Cascade mountains in central Oregon with an old friend. Although it was only 5 days, it was an epic journey involving riding world class singletrack while fully loaded, climbing for 30 straight miles to gain 5000 ft, drinking from super pure snow melt spring water, and camping amongst ancient trees and giant elk... absolutely amazing, I can't ever get over the wonder of Oregon.

I'm posting quite a few photos from the trip, sorry if it's overload....

Mike pedalling up from Oakridge:

My bike:

Lots of gravel roads on this trip:

Typical view:

I think Summit Lake:

Mike liked to lead us through lots of singletrack:

Me with 5 days of gear and vegan food:

A perfectly serene lake, Suzanne Lake. Totally secluded, we had it all to ourselves. We couldn't resist jumping in!

Can't make out which mountain peak is in the background...

Me bombing down some nice singletrack.

More off-road fun:

I believe this is a high portion of the North Umpqua River:

I used to long-haul over 58 and up and down 97 thru Washington, Oregon and California. Oregon is God's Own Land - very beautiful.

We actually didn't cover that many miles, instead opting for lots of trail riding, swim stops, and enjoying the scenery. The entire area is great for riding, though- we took off from Oakridge, went East into the mountains around Summit Lake, took a big loop of dirt roads down to Diamond Lake, then west along the North Umpqua River, then up near Lemolo Lake, then cut back up to Oakridge. I would definitely recommend trying out any loop in this general area.
