i have v-brakes they are 105mm.
will 85mm v's improved my stopping power?

I’m guessing you have regular v-brakes and are looking at mini-Vs.
Using mini-Vs with levers intended for regular Vs will REDUCE the pinch force the brakes can create against the rim.
It is most likely to make your brakes feel WEAKER, unless the current ones are so poor and flexy to be near unfunctional.

Used with the same brake levers, the shorter ones will give less braking "power" (i.e. you will need more hand force for the same braking effect). Those shorter mini-Vs are intended for use with road brake levers that have higher leverage and less cable pull than the levers intended for full size V-brakes.

V brakes are a balance of lowering the mechanical advantage at the hand lever end, to pull more cable
to be moving the higher MA long brake arms further , for the smaller pads to rim travel..
the shorter V brake needs less cable pull , such as offered by road brake levers like shimano.

Generally speaking, no. Shorter brake arms will mean more brake pad travel per brake lever travel, but you have less leverage. Longer brake arms give you more leverage but less travel (of the brake pads).

To add to the above, if you did look at shorter (mini) v-brakes with the appropriate levers, these can have clearance issues with tires, depending on the frame/size of tire, generally, regular v-brakes should have no clearance issues for most normal tires.

Longer arms would give more braking torque/power. I have 130mm (nominal, 120mm actual) arms on mine, which i believe is the longest in the market. Not sure about Paul's Motolite.
Longer levers would also give more torque/power. I have 4 finger levers on mine. More lever range of motion required to biting point.
